# Fake Profiles on Facebook

Like photoshopped? Yeah, there are a couple of those profiles floating around…Like there’s somethign about their pics which is " hello’…can we say FAKE!!!

I don’t use Facebook, but I have experienced something very similar on Twitter: people who ‘follow,’ me but are obviously fake. Usually they have a female name, are following hundreds of people but have very few followers themselves, and have just one or handful of tweets. Often (but not always) the content of their tweet will be sexually suggestive in some way, but always there will be a link in it (and on Twitter nearly all links are blind, because it is _de rigeur_ to use URL shorteners). Sometimes the accounts get closed down quickly by Twitter, but some of these “Twitter Whores” have now been “following” me for months now.

As a non-user of Facebook, I also occasionally get emails from people I have never heard of inviting me to join Facebook.

There’s no stopping spammers, I guess.

I’ve got a false name on F.B. as I’m a very private person, I make friends with people I know/knew by I.M.ing them with my real name.

And they STILL tell me to fuck off.
