I heard great things about that book, so I bought a copy back in 2008. I haven’t read it yet - and I’m not sure I want to start it, even with the next book on the horizon. I think I’ll wait to see how long it takes him to write the third one.

Probably a good call! I am afraid he will go to his grave without finishing… I really \*did \*enjoy the first book though.

Book 13 of the Wheel of Time, Towers of Midnight is due out November 2, 2010. the last one was good and I think Sanderson did a great job. I’ve been waiting for this book since November of last year.

Fascinating thread - good to learn about the books. I rarely “anticipate” soon-to-be released books, more because I am always stumbling across a book I want to read without knowing when it was released.
There are maybe 2 - 3 authors that are on “automatic buy” for me - Haruki Murakami, David Foster Wallace before his death, and a few science/philosophy writers…

Rothfuss is 37 - I don’t think we have any worries, unless he gets tangled up in his beard while sleeping and asphyxiates. It’s my understanding that he has the 3rd book drafted, and the time between books will be due to rewrites and whatnot. My guess is early 2014.
**Eleanor** I’ve taken similar a tact with **The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant** and **A Song of Ice and Fire**. I’ve got a couple other series queued up to read before then.

_Mockingjay_, _Heartstone_,Mike Carey’s _Thicker Than Water_ still isn’t at my library, _A Play of Piety_ by Margeret Frazer, and _Bitterblue_ by Kristin Cashore (which I think isn’t coming out until April. Gah).

**Full Dark, No Stars** , the latest collection of short works by Stephen King, is due out November 9th; for the past several years, he’s released a new book either on or the day before my birthday. I’m still trying to convince my hubby I’m not bribing King to do this! 😃

Amazon shows the release date for a book, in the section of the page where it lists the publisher. If you add a book to your Wish List, the release date will be displayed, usually. But the dates are not always reliable, especially if the date is far out. (As **Drain Bead** points out, Amazon keeps hopefully posting release dates for _A Dance With Dragons_, The Book Which Will Never Be Finished.)
You can usually check an author’s website or blog to get the dates. I pull a bunch of author blogs into my Goodreads feed, and I just today saw Bujold’s announcement of the new date for her book.
**jsgoddess** , _Thicker Than Water_ is my favorite in that series so far. I wonder why the last two books haven’t been published in the US yet? I suppose the earlier ones didn’t sell well enough.

So frustrating! I think they are quite good, if only people knew about them.
