The baseball team was known as the Brooklyn Dodgers until moving to Los Angeles after the 1957 season. Also, the opening credits of the TV sitcom _Welcome Back, Kotter_ featured a sign which read **Welcome To Brooklyn, Fourth Largest City in America. Hon. Sebastian Leone, Borough President**. Indeed, the borough would trail only New York City (which would remain the most populous), Los Angeles, and Chicago in the rankings were Brooklyn to secede from the “Big Apple”. ---
