Thanks, CatInASuit! And thanks for allowing the latecomers to score.
emphasis mine Heh.
Damn. Did myself in by allowing my lust for Daniel Craig to overrule the fact that I knew Sean Connery would be the preferred answer.
Sean Connery is the only answer. (We purists will allow for those Roger Moore people, but we know who the only true Bond is, was, ever shall be)
I’m still surprised that hardly anyone knew about Blake’s 7, let alone be able to answer about the crew. I’m just glad I didn’t include it as a proper question
Obviously, a really underappreciated classic British Sci-fi series.
Although my finish was not what I’d hoped for, the game was tons of fun. Thanks, CatInASuit!
Wow, my first time anywhere near the top. Thanks CatInASuit!
I’d like to thank my agent, Tri-Star, Steven Spielberg for his belief in my ability to handle the role…
Wow, I totally blew it.
Three-way tied for fifth, best yet! Still, I knew, I knew I should have said the Moon instead of Sun!
Yeah, and I should have said the Mediterranean and not the Pacific Ocean… Still: We’re number five, we’re number five! Yay!
I keep going backwards. Every game I sink farther and farther into the abyss.
<sigh>
So when’s the next game starting?
anyrose:
I actually like Moore and Brosnan better than Connery, but I knew Connery would be the preferred answer in this game.
When are you gonna run one, you freeloader?
OK, so which one of the eight scoring answers for the Virtues is not really one?
The seven virtues are
Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Kindness, Humility
So there is no room for Love, Honesty or Faith
Although amusing is that with all that Chastity and Patience there was still plenty of Lust going round
It was a good game–thanks for running it!
After I answered, I did a search on Wikipedia and there are a bunch of sets of virtues.
The four classic Western virutes are temperence, prudence, fortitude and justice.
There are 9 Christian virtues or “fruits of the Spirit”, 15 Roman virtues, including “Gravity”, 33 Virtues of Islam, 8 Buddhist virtues, and 4 virtues of the Samurai. Virtues recognized in western culture number 121.
There’s no mention of the number 7.
I vaguely remember the Trix rabbit saying “Patience is a virtue” in a commercial when I was a kid, and my Mother said that patience was not a virtue. I guess she was referring to the Christian virtues from the Baltimore Catachism.
Patience was my answer, BTW, thanks to the Trix rabbit.
On the contrary, there are seven contrary virtues.
Never tried searching “Seven Virtues”. You’d think that would be tied in with “virtue”.
I see that Patience is not included in the seven Roman Catholic virtues, hence my mother’s insistence that the Trix rabbit was wrong.
I chose mine based on Camelot:
Take courage - now there’s a sport
An invitation to the state of rigor mort
And purity - a noble yen
And very restful every now and then
I find humility means to be hurt
It’s not the earth the meek inherit, it’s the dirt
Honesty is fatal, it should be taboo
Diligence - a fate I would hate
If charity means giving, I give it to you
And fidelity is only for your mate
