I was generally enjoying the episode, with a fun (and pretty spot-on) _Back to the Future_ parody. Then, _BAM_, pulled out of it because McFarlane cannot help but recycle jokes far past “clever” to “painfully stupid.” I’m very glad there wasn’t too much of “everybody acts like Quagmire” alternate future. “I thought we could go see _Zapped_ because Adrian Zmed is androgynous enough that we could both get turned on by him and nobody would be gay.” ---

So I have two questions: Who was the person the singer called when Brian was doing his song (and what was that song)? And background for the second question: Entertainment Weekly mentioned some sort of shout-out to them that was to be in this episode. I know they have history - after Ken Tucker gave them a bad review, Stewie snapped the neck of an EW writer in the DVD _Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story_, and MacFarland has acknowledged that is was indeed Tucker because of that review. But even though I paid close attention, I couldn’t figure out what they were referring to within the episode. Any one else catch it? ---

I remember reading a review of the episode (also Entertainment Weekly) that said there was going to be a tasteless Phil Hartman joke. I didn’t see that. Did anyone see it or was it pulled because, as the reviewer said, it is ALWAYS too soon to rip on Phil Hartman. ---

Goode_ in the 1950s- a song which didn’t exist yet- and a relative of Chuck Berry’s calls him up to tell him about the song. The entire dance scene is a parody of that film. “I’m going to kiss Lois, and no man, woman, shemale, robot, gay robot, or sentient robot who’s curious about his existence is gonna stop me!” ---

Most music is owned by record companies and not the artists. Companies just want the jack! ---

The couple of seconds of Nat “King” Cole singing in _Contact_? $60K. Which is a freakin’ bargain compared to what Boston wanted for the use of _More Than a Feeling_: $500K. Personally, I’d charge next to nothing (by comparison) for any songs I held the rights to, thus ensuring nearly everybody on the planet would be exposed to my stuff. ---
