# Family Guy and Titus Cancelled

It’s official.
And to top it all off, they made Andy Richter just a backup show. Do they have any idea what they are doing down at FOX? F.G. and Titus were two of their best programs, and now they’re gone! I urge everyone who really enjoyed these shows to hop on over to the FOX website and give them a feedback to register your disappointment with them. I did last night, like it will do any good. But still, I had to try…

LOVED **Family Guy**.
Mostly indifferent about **Titus**.
Saw my first **Andy Richter** episode this week and liked it.
Has the 80’s show been cancelled yet? that show blows.

Yup. Gone too.
See, what they SHOULD have done is carried 70’s show over to the 80’s, and renamed it as appropriate.
80’s show was…ok, but they could have done it much better.

titus sucks.
the family guy sucks.
the 70’s and 80’s shows suck.
the simpsons and malcolm in the middle is about all fox has at this point.

I’ve never watched _Titus_ or _That 80s Show_. I liked Stewie and the dog on _Family Guy_ and I’ll miss them. I’ve only seen a couple of eps of _The Andy Richter Show_ and I liked what I saw.
What’s a backup show, by the way?

From what I understand, it’s a show they drop in a timeslot when a regularly-scheduled show is suddenly unavailable for whatever reason…

**Family Guy** was one of the best cartoons I’d seen in a long time and _much_ better than the crap they are shovelling out for the\*\* Simpsons\*\* these days!
**Titus** had it’s moments and was, overall, a decent show for Fox.
Those guys at Fox are idiots, but then again, it’s not like they are the only ones doing dumb stuff with shows (think **Buffy** and **Sports Night** )

I saw the new schedules they are going to be doing a lot of old shows. Probably a cost saving measure.
Looks pretty boring too. On the other hand we have big brother three & maybe survivor5? & the mole2,
to look forward to.

Family Guy was pretty bad the first year, but I liked it more lately, better than the Simpsons. Damn.

i didn’t think anyone liked that damn show. the simpsons may be running on fumes, but i’d take the worst jokes from the simpsons over the best of the family guy any day. that show ranks way down there with southpark. i’d watch king of the hill before i’d watch that crap.
but really, i don’t see how anything gets cancelled with the overall crappiness of tv these days. i don’t watch anything on the so-called networks anymore. i make it a point to watch probably 4 programs per week. and out of those four, 2 are going downhill fast and i probably only watch them for sentimental reasons.
and i only caught the andy richter show twice, but i thought it was pretty funny, especially for its first season.

In a thread of intentionally incorrect facts on this board, I stated that Fox’s schedule department was run by a drunk with a shotgun, who shoots at shows to cancel them. Maybe it’s true…or maybe he’s sober…
“(BANG!) Ta-ta, _Titus!_ (BANG!) Enough is enough, _That 80’s Show!_ (BANG!) Goodbye, _Family Guy!_ (BANG!) Sayonara, _Greg the Bunny!_ (BANG!) Hmm…that one only hit half of the piece. Okay then…see you in midseason, _Andy Richter Controls the Universe!_”

On the FOX web site, the [Family Guy](http://www.fox.com/familyguy/) section is still open. I know it’s not on this season’s lineup, but I doubt this would still be up if it is indeed cancelled forever…

I think it’s obvious from the responses just in this thread that not **everyone** believes _The Family Guy_ is a funny as you do.
In reality, I’m sure that the decision on whether or not to cancel the show has **nothing to do** with how funny/good/creative it is. It has **everything to do** with **HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WATCHING IT!**
For the record, I agree that _The Family Guy_ was very funny. A great show. It’s funny just watching the reruns, as most of the jokes get even funnier the second or third time! I never understood the savage criticism the show received from some critics, but apparently there are some people who just do not get it. Or maybe those of us who liked it are the weirdo’s, as clearly the show did not get enough viewers to stave off cancellation, let alone become a hit.
_That 70’s Show_ is very funny, whereas _That 80’s Show_ is not. The humor in _That 70’s Show_ does not really derive from the fact that it’s set in the 1970’s, it’s because the characters are funny, well-developed and the writers of the show do a good job.
I also liked _Titus_. It was also original and creative, and a lot of it was very funny.
_Andy Richter Controlls the Universe_ is not bad… I’ll watch it, but it seems to me that it could be better. Double for _Greg the Bunny_, which was funny in parts but overall did not live up to it’s potential.
_The Simpsons_ was, and still is, great.
But I also really liked _The Tick_, which goes to show how much FOX relies on my opinions.

\*\*Titus \*\* was one of the few shows that I truly enjoyed. Their first year was very fresh and well done. I loved all the characters.
Fox seemed to never find a home for it and moved it around, so I lost track of it.
Never saw Family guy.
I have a theory of why good shows get cancelled.
It’s because the networks are really owned/run secretly by HBO, which, as well all know, is a subscription service. Therefore, the ‘networks’ put out craptacular drippy shows that pander down to your intelligence.
But you resist signing on to pay the cable bastards more money and therefore miss out on key water cooler conversations regarding spectacular shows on HBO, and feel leper like. Eventually, you will cave in and subscribe to HBO so you can see what all the fuss is about with \*Six feet Under \* and \*Sex in the City \*
Which is why Fox puts on shows that’s basic story line is " whoring for ratings".
HBO has won and it just gives you an unclean feeling.
BTW, FTR, we still have basic cable. I refuse to give into the HBO DEATH STAR.

A lot of these shows were never really given a fair shake. Family Guy was the natural capper for Fox’s Sunday night animated shows- if they had given it a steady season following The Simpsons, I can just about guarantee it would have been a hit. Instead they keep the vomit inducing Malcomb in the Middle there and move FG around like the red queen in a three card monty game. Greg the Bunny was funny, but 3 episodes and pffft! gone. It never had a chance to build it’s audience. The problem is that garbage shows like “Temptation Thigh-land”, “When Fuzzy Bunnies Attack!” and “Who Wants to Give a Hummer to a Cute Guy for $12.50 in Green Stamps” are dirt cheap to produce and get millions of idiots drooling on their remotes in double wides all across the country…well, there’s no incentive to produce good stuff.

First I’ll say, _Malcolm in the Middle_ is one of my favourite shows on Fox. It gets better and better. Especially the final episodes of this season (Dewey’s domino distraction, the episode where all the smart kids were spread into the normal population and became teenage stereotypes) were quality.
Next, _Family Guy_ is hilarious. I heard that in the U.K. they were putting out the first season on DVD. Any Brit-dopers have word on that? Or is that here in the U.S. also?
_Titus_ I was never too big on. But for god’s sake, it’s better than _Grounded for Life_ and that soldiers on.

Hehe, that’s funny stuff!
But something esle you said really sums it up: they kept moving FG around in the time slots. I really liked that show and made an effort to catch it whenever it was on, but _damn_, sometimes I’d hear peapl takling about it and I’d be like “What do you mean it was on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30? Wasn’t it on last month at 9:13 on Saturday morning?”
If they would leave shows in a time slot for more than two ep.s, they might actually get some sort of following.
