Famous and successful by default

Fair enough. Still, The Ramones had a twenty-year recording career. I can’t think of any of the classic 60s garage bands that did.

However, it had everything to do with Giuliani’s recent success. I am in awe of the man because of the way he handled 9/11, but I doubt he would have the strength to run for President if it hadn’t happened.

ABBA. I consider them great too, but they wouldn’t have been so successful without the disco era.

Ditto Bee Gees. They were a B-band at best, and then rose to the top as a disco group.

Pre 9/11 two Harry Potter books were on the all-time best selling hardcover children’s books list and one was on the all-time best selling paperback children’s books list.

At the end of 2000, Harry Potter was right up there with The Poky Little Puppy, Green Eggs and Ham, Pat the Bunny, Charlotte’s Web and the like.
