# Famous people, places, or things that do not have a Wikipedia page

I actually just ran into this yesterday when I posted about Land Park in the [“Shelbyvilles” thread](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/shelbyvilles-i-e-places-that-look-like-they-have-a-generic-place-name-in-them-but-dont/1027667/81). William Land does not get his own Wikipedia page. He does get a section of the page about the [Western Hotel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Hotel_(Sacramento,_California)#William_Land), which takes up almost half the page. He might not be _that_ famous, but he was a wealthy businessman, mayor, and left the money to the city to build the park that’s named after him. And I would argue that he’s more famous locally than his former hotel that doesn’t even exist anymore (If only because he has a park named after him).
