Yet another vote for Tom Cruise.
Spencer Pratt (from _The Hills_) and Heidi Montag for being stupid enough to put up with him
Robin Williams - would you _please_ just calm down and shut. the \<bleep\>. up!
Kate Winslet - too jolly hockey sticks. Too much of an Actress with a capital A and her lips annoy me for some unknown reason
Sarah Palin - for obvious reasons
Vladimir Putin - creepy

Rush does commercials for homeopathic medicines, he is literally selling nothing to people in need of medical help. Is it smart to defraud the public for money? In Rush’s universe I guess it is.

> Limbaugh is smart, very smart as a matter of fact. And he’s very talented and very good at what he does. The problem is that he’s had to go further and further afield to avoid sounding like a broken record (and also in an attempt to gain additional listenership, I would imagine) and so he’s becoming almost a parody of himself. I don’t listen to Limbaugh anymore and haven’t since the Chelsea Clinton dog joke which revealed to me that he really was a mean-spirited asshole, but I’ve seen and read enough about him these days to get a pretty good handle on what he’s saying and how he’s acting now.
>
> It’s just regrettable to me that unfettered decades-long bias against the right by the entertainment and news media has not only created an opening for him, but made him and the others like him (O’Reilly and Hannity, for instance) necessary…which, unfortunately, they are. Without them, the right would have no voice at all in the public dialog.

Limbaugh is a whore. He’d felch a dead elephant on national TV if it meant staying in the public eye.

Where’s the evidence for Limbaugh being smart? I certainly think he’s determined and worked hard to get where he is today. I’ve read at least one of his books, _The Way Things Ought to Be_, I think, and I wasn’t impressed.

He knows his audience and how to cultivate them. But I’ve never thought of him as particularly smart. For the record, I certainly don’t think Keith Olbermann is smart either. Now George Will is smart. Christopher Hitchens is an arrogant swine, but he’s smart too. Limbaugh? I don’t see it, beyond the kind of smarts to be successful in his line of work.

I think Limbaugh is very smart. Imagine yourself trying to keep a radio audience captivated with words you think up, three hours a day for five days a week, and be a huge hit with it, and I think you’ll see what I mean. He is very, very good at what he does, and anyone with that capabilty at his level is almost invaribly highly intelligent.

What he is not is an intellectual. I would agree with you about the intelligence of both George Will and Christopher Hitchens (and I’ll lament the passing of William F. Buckley while I’m at it). These men are intellectuals, and fine ones at that. And to me they are much more effective at getting people to look at things with a more open mind and to take what they say seriously, even if one is of a different stripe politically, than are Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Olbermann and Maddow.

Unfortunately today, the intellectuals are marginalized and mad dogs rule the ratings roost. I was looking at some Youtube videos of some of Buckley’s appearances on Charlie Rose’s show the other day, and a debate he had in 1968 with Noam Chomsky, and some of the people leaving comments there were lamenting the fact that there are no low key, adult and polite intellectual discussions on TV anymore and that now it’s all just talking heads yelling at each other.

I couldn’t agree more, and we are worse off for it.

Off topic. Drop it.

I started [a thread about this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=502212) in ATMB if you’d care to expand upon your reasoning for that rather terse command.

Tony Danza for his numerous complaints (and lawsuits) about his Park City ski home. Die in a fire, a-hole!

Nancy Grace should die in a fire. She has no journalistic integrity whatsoever. I would still hate-fuck her though.

Ann Coulter for being an antagonistic bigoted bitch. I did the Nelson laugh when Adam Corrolla hung up on her when she called into his show late, and bitchy.

“Dr” Laura. Her show is horrible and she always tells these poor beaten women it’s their fault they’re miserable and should THANK GOD they have a man in their life.

I can’t stand David Caruso either, but if he has one redeeming feature, it was leaving _NYPD Blue_, because that allowed Jimmy Smits to step in and make a good show into one of the best shows ever on television.

Other people i dislike:

Oprah
Dr. Phil
Ashton Kutcher
Ben Stiller
Nancy Grace
Celine Dion
Tom Cruise

I’ve deliberately left out politicians, or political commentators whose views i hate (Ann Coulter, etc.). I guess Nancy Grace sort of qualifies, but i loathe her just because she’s a scary, loathesome human being.

My wife, who hardly hates _anyone_ in the world, agrees with you completely about Corbett. She just calls him “smarmy guy.”

Far from an original list, for the most part (which, I suppose, proves that most of the people on it are truly loathsome, since they elicit a lot of hate):

George W. Bush
Sarah Palin
Michael Vick (Yep, it takes a big man to torture animals, alrighty!)
Hillary Clinton (Just a big ol’ visceral hatred)
That stupid anti-vaccination bitch mentioned earlier (sorry, can’t remember her name at the mo.)
Oddly unmentioned earlier, perhaps because it goes without saying: Osama bin Laden
The Pope (not too fond of any of them, but this particular one is a true scumbag.)

Bill Clinton is\* not \*on the list because I \*used to \*like him. It’s his post presidential petulance which puts him in the running.
Not on the list because I came to loathe her only recently, and it doesn’t seem fair to include her on what I regard as a life list: Caroline Kennedy. Come on, bitch! What do you have to offer except a bigger sense of entitlement than even Hillary has?

Paris Hilton.
(Please forgive any spelling errors. I’m sleep deprived and am nodding off as I type this. G’night, all!)
