I had a brief email correspondence with Donald Knuth. He initiated it. I had met him at a puzzle event, and given him a puzzle. He wanted to use it on a book, i tthink I’ve heard claims that he doesn’t use email, but they are false.

I went to a Doctor Who convention in Newcastle in 2012, and while taking a photo of a Cyberman cosplay, Louise Jamieson photobombed him. She and I had spoken earlier at length at her autograph table, and I asked her if she’d like me to send her the photo. She said yes and gave me her web site addy. When I got back to Canada I sent the file, and within a day she’d emailed me back thanking me profusely. I was at a small Who con here in Toronto the following weekend, and it got some awed reactions.

Steven Brust, Jim Butcher – which led to his posting here on the dope, James Randi, Ravi Batra, Luke Wade, photographer Joey L, Harvey Gerst, Vaden Todd Lewis of the Toadies, John Rody, Nick Price…probably a few others over the years. Of course some of those are only famous in certain circles.
