I don’t think you’ll get a Fitzgerald or a Wayne for him. His actual value may be similar, but his perceived value is not.

_looks up fantasy scoring by player_

Schaub is 5th at the position in leagues where TDs count for 6 points. That means he’s worth an Andre Johnson, and in a PPR league he’s worth more than Vincent Jackson.

Ray Rice, Joseph Addai, Donald Brown, Brandon Jacobs, Felix Jones, and Jason Snelling. I need to start two.

I’m gravitating towards Jacobs and Rice. Halp?

Getting Andre would be perfect, because the fantasy points would be perfectly connected to each other (more or less).

Yup. The only other one I’d consider would be Snelling, and Turner’s being a little bitch about letting on if he’s going to play or not. Even then, they all have the same ceiling this week.

Plus Snelling’s playing the Giants, which kind of limits his potential to 80/10/1, in my book.

Maybe. Maybe not. The Giants haven’t been the paragons of amazing defense recently, though.

Rice is a Must Start, and Jacobs has been incredibly disappointing this year so far. Apparently, they were making him run plays designed for Ward, which included starting and stopping and not North-south runs. apparently, the coaching staff caught this (about time) and he’s now running between the tackles and running downhill.
I don’t know how much faith I put in that. That sounds like one of the multiple choice answers on a Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me quiz.

Unfortunately many of the top receivers are on teams with quality QBs, so Schaub doesn’t have much value to them. One guy has Brees, Wayne, & VJ. I’m probably looking at the level of Colston or Roddy White.

I’d be okay with Roddy White. He’s certainly an upgrade over what you’ve got, and he tends to produce regardless of his quarterback’s play.

Head to head leagues can be volatile as far as where people rank relative to their scoring. But usually, it tends to equal out by the end of the season. It’s rare that someone in the top scores has a losing record, or that someone with the lowest score makes the playoffs.

But this year has been crazy for some of the SDMB leagues. In the all pro league, Kid\_A is right up there with the playoff teams in scoring, but is last in the league with a probably 3-8 record. Jammers could drop to 6-5 despite having the top score by a healthy margin and if his team tanks for 2 more weeks could potentially miss the playoffs.

In the auction league, my record is 9-2, but I’m not too far ahead point wise than some 6-5 teams.

In the big league, I am especially hosed. I have held the top score in a 20 man league for most of the entire season, and yet my record is soon to be 4-7, which is going to be me like the 14th seed. So… yeah, top out of 20 players, 8 people make the playoffs… and I may not even be close to making it. I’ve been several hundred points ahead of my division leader (until recently, he’s catching up) while being several games behind. And now I’m even falling out of the wild card race with a 4 game losing streak. So I’m probably going to finish top 3 in scoring and not make the playoffs. I have by far the most points scored against me. Two divsions are lead by guys who scored under 1000 points, and yet other people over 900 are 3 or 4 games behind them.

I also have all sorts of annoying conflict tonight. I have a close game in one league where Celek can beat me. But I need him in another league if I have a shot at a win. I also have Jay Cutler in one league playing against the Eagles defense which I need in two leagues. Hate when this stuff happens.
In other news, the Saints running game is a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a kick in the balls. Last year I lost in the playoffs because I made the wrong decision on whether to use Reggie Bush or Pierre Thomas (and I tried to swap them at literally the last minute and got locked out - cost me a shot at the championship) and this year I’m invested in Pierre Thomas. Every time you start thinking he’s too unpredictable, he’ll put up a 20+ point game and make you recommit to him. Then you see stuff like today - Tampa Bay, NO is gonna run all over them, Reggie Bush is out of the picture, Mike Bell has barely gotten carries lately… and you think there’s no way he doesn’t have a big game. He did alright, but Mike Bell got as many yards and 2 TDs too. Grrr.

Yup. And it’s not just from getting creamed a couple times on outlier cases (though you did take a hit by losing to me on the currently highest scoring game of the season). Doing an extremely non-scientific assignment of 1 point for the highest opponent score, 2 for the second, etc., here are some figures. I have no idea if they’re meaningful in the slightest:

Wow.

**SenorBeef** has the highest number of points scored, and i have the second-lowest.

If i win this week (almost a certainty now, unless the Tennessee D gives me -7 or worse), and he loses, we’ll have the same record.

Ouch.

Yep unless Slaton can put up more than 17 points I’m looking at ranking 16th in actual rank and 2nd in points scored.

Munch, is there supposed to be a decimal point somewhere in those weekly ranking numbers? IE after 10 weeks my score of 683 means my opponent was on average was the 6.65th highest scoring person in the league?

Nope. It’s pretty meaningless. Playing against the highest score gets you a 1, against the 2nd highest a 2, on down the 200th worst score getting a 200. Add up those 10 numbers, and that’s what you get. The average would be 1005 - but this is where the problem of small sample sizes comes in. 10 data points just allows for a ton of variation.

I’m 8-3 in my league, and as long as Warner isn’t going to miss any time I should be a lock for the playoffs. Last night my opponent needed 13 points from Forte (his #1 pick, btw) and came up short. Love it when that happens.

So what do you guys will happen to the Indy offensive players during the fantasy playoffs? They’re close to locking up homefield advantage in the playoffs. There’s a new coach in town so I don’t know if he’ll go for the pussy route like Dungy and sit his starters with 2-3 games left in the season. I guess if Indy wins until then and have a serious shot at going 16-0 the starters would play. But what if they’re sitting around at 13-1 or 12-2 with home field locked up? Do they sit their starters?

You’d think they’d have learned - every year they had great records and sat their players, they came into the playoff games looking listless and got their asses kicked. The year they had to play through the end of the season they won the superbowl. But then the next year Dungy sits his fucking starters against Tennessee - and not only that but (and this is unrelated to fantasy but screwed me) concedes the game by not calling his timeouts which could’ve gotten his team the ball back with time on the clock when they were down by less than a score.
