Ok, I rounded out the league. Do we have to have an autodraft? I much prefer live. I mean, how do you keep from getting say, 27 Qbs and no Rbs? ---

Welcome Dave!! Ok that is 10. Dave I went with an Auto draft, mainly because I was unsure as to how much trouble it would be to get everyone on at the same time. Yes, will be very challenging to get a well balanced team a challange. Of course, the limited number of players (10) and the number of players on each team (20 I think) will give lots of room to trade and stock. With 31 teams, the number of starting players at each position availible should make grabbing a starter easy. I think the real challenge will be for each of us to determine from week to week who to play. But, if we all can find a time to do a live draft we can still change that. I personally, find the auto draft an interesting challenge. Osip ---

I’m still trying to figure this auto draft out. What order are we drafting in? Suppose I’m #1, and I rank my 1st 11 players thus ( making this up off the top of my head) Culpepper (qb) Moss (Wr) Faulk (rb) Manning(Qb) James (rb) Owens(wr) Warner (qb) Harrison (wr) Taylor (rb) Sharpe (te) George (rb) So, I pick Culpepper, but when pick 11 rolls around, Kurt Warner is still available. Auto pick would pick Warner, and I would have blown my #2 pick on a position I already had filled! Obviously, if I had the #1 pick, I could make sure that no more QBs were highly ranked, but drafting in the middle of the pack makes it even harder to gage. We should change to live draft, if possible. If you’re gonna play FF, PLAY FF, and that means making the draft. Those that want to auto pick can still do so, and those that are willing to put in the time can draft live. Besides, live drafts are lots of fun! ---

Yes Dave, it is rather interesting problem yes? You can modify your list of players (as you noted) The computer then picks the highest avalible left on your list. The way the picks go is if I remember correctly goes from player 1-10 then players 10 thru 1. So, if you are player 10 (which as a matter of fact you are 🙂 you have the 10th and 11th pick in the draft. This does not follow standard NFL drafts because the NFL draft is bent towards giving the piss poor teams an advantage. That is the reason why the Bengals, Browns and the Cards are most often in the top 5 year after year 😃 Hey, I can poke fun… I am a Cards fan. If anyone else wants to do a live draft, we can do it sometime this weekend I guess. BTW Dave if you do end up with Culpepper and Warner then you would have some MAJOR trade bait!! anyone else want a live draft or want to give it a go with the auto draft? Osip ---

I prefer a livedraft. And preferably NOT on the 15th because that’s the day of the other SD league draft and I don’t think this machine can handle two at once:) ---

I like live draft, but I think that auto draft is fine, too. If you end up with too many players at a given position, then someone else will certainly have too many players at some other positions. Trading is what it’s all about. Live draft will make it difficult to get everyone together, I think. ---

Ok it has seemed to difficult to get everyone together for a live draft, so I am going to run it autodraft and do that saturday afternoon. Ok I set the system to auto-draft. It will be completed sometime before Midnight Tuesday. Which means you may or may not have time to run over and do any final adjustments to your player ranking list. It looks like Glenn(WR Patriots) and Lewis (RB Ravens) have already been removed from the draft choices, so if you had been under a rock and not realized both are out for the season. You will nto have to worry about drafting a “no-point” player. That will be all, Osip ---

Draft is complete. Cannot tell you who drafted whom since the server is down (at yahoo) I am guessing some kind of regualar upkeep. So everyone check later and see how you came out on the draft, then scan everyone else and trade away! Osip ---

By the way, I think I read somewhere that Yahoo’s Auto Draft system takes into consideration which positions you already have filled before selecting players for you. I know it works this way in the Yahoo MLB leagues, so I assume it’s how they do it for football leagues too. Oh, and my team looks decent. Warner is my QB 🙂 ---

OK, a couple months later and I’m still doing OK. Hmm, with three wins to go, I’m a lock for playoff contention. 🙂 Any other leaguers got comments? I will admit I got hosed several times 'cause I don’t keep track of all those $&#! Thursday night games. Overall, it’s a much tighter race than other FFs I’ve been in. ---

I’m having a blast (I’m the Montgomery Vikings, _né_ the Rockville Crows). I’m in the hunt for a playoff spot #4 at 7-4, just one game out, and I had a good start last night to this weekend’s matchup with the Cavaliers. I was a perennial doormat in FF until this season, and I’m 8-3 in my other league, tied for first (despite starting 8-0 and currently clawing my way out of a 3 game losing streak). Plus, I’m in second in the SD Pick’em League, too. 🙂 ---
