# Farewell, Blue, you were an \*AMAZING\* cat :(

sorry, stupid illogical emotions making this hard to type now…

My 15year old black and white shorthair cat, Blue, passed away peacefully last night, and I just got done burying him near his favorite tree a couple hours ago…

He was the most amazing buddy, he would often jump up on my bed, while I was lying down, and happily sit on my left arm, “pinning” me in place and happily purring up a storm, he’d be near my side nearly constantly, he was closer to a dog, attitude-wise, than a cat.

I was the only one he was truly friendly with, he tolerated Mom, Dad he liked, but he spent most time with me

about a year ago, he started slowing down, breathing hard, and being less active, but he recovered and had been the picture of health until about a month ago, the lethargy came back, the hard breathing, and he started losing weight, a lot, quickly, we tried to get hi to the vet, but as an indoor/outdoor cat, he came and went on his terms

the last couple weeks he really started to languish, he totally refused food, even scrambled egg, milk, and his favorite treat, beef jerky, and I really started to worry, I was ready to take him into the vet on my limited budget and just tough it out, my buddy deserved it

last night I made the decision, he was breathing really hard, he wouldn’t jump on the bed anymore, (GO AWAY\< EMOTIONS\< TRYING TO TYPE HERE\< FRAK OFF!), cost be dammned, I was taking him to the vet today, even if Mom thought it was a waste of money

Last night, I told him i’d be taking him to the vet to see if we could help him, but if he felt it was time to go, i’d understand (GO AWAY EMOTIONS!!!)i’d miss him, but i’d understand…

….he made his decision ☹

He passed quietly in his sleep, behind my bed, in a cozy little cubbyhole, even though I was asleep, he chose to spend his last moments near me…

Farewell, Blue, i’ll never forget you, buddy ☹ ☹ :BAWLING:

stupid bloody emotions, go away, I DON’T NEED YOU!

What a lovely boy Blue was. I’m so very sorry. I’ve had a very similar experience recently with my avatar kitty and know how gutted you are. Emotions are certainly ok right now!

My condolences to you. How lovely that you had someone who chose you over all comers; how sad that he had to go, but he’ll always be in your memories. Cherish them. And what a sweetie! Thank you for sharing the pics.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Last year I lost my 16 and 18 year old Siamese cats. I haven’t been without a house cat for a long time and it just feels odd. Nick, my remaining cat, is a barn cat (by his choice). He’s 15 and slowing down a lot, but still wants to be protecting the barn.

I’m so sorry. It is an honor and a privilege to be loved by a cat and feeling bereft when they go is not at all illogical.

My best feline friend had to leave me in April. I still miss him so badly that I’m tearing up writing this - I still can’t quite believe I won’t see him again ☹ And it’s not that I don’t have a cat or a pet anymore; I have one of the other cats still, two dogs, two horses, and four goats. But E was my nest friend, and I was his person.

Blue was a beautiful boy, and I’m so sorry you’re missing him.

okay, this was just _unnerving_…

Cooper (my dog) is hanging out on the bed with me right now, and almost reflexively, I asked him “Hey Cooper, where’s Blue?”

He looked over to Blue’s grave, somehow he knew ☹

I then tried a couple others

Hey Cooper, where’s Mom? - he runs to the front door in anticipation, I can always trick him with that 🙂

Hey Cooper, where’s Lazarus? (Mom’s longhair chihuaua) - he looks over to the patio

Hey Cooper, where’s Blue - _grave_

He knows, and is just as heartbroken as me
