He’ll kill you if he thinks it’s going to accomplish his ends, but that’s not his objective. If he had normal routes to wealth and power, he’d take those, but he doesn’t have them. If he can not kill you and further his aims, even better (after all, he’s “smart” enough that Gaetano lived, and pretty much knew why). It’s not a normal gangster character, and it’s kind of idealistic in the “hooker with a heart of gold” method, but it seems that all of the persons who want to control the Kansas City underworld may be flawed in their own particular ways, and I find it a good story so far as a result. ---

He just doesn’t project _any_ sort of danger or threat at all. When he was trying to threaten Josto in the latest episode, I was laughing right along with him. I don’t _think_ he’s purposefully playing for comedy but that’s how it comes off. ---

I think Chris Rock is doing an OK job as a gangster. No, he’s not super intimidating, but neither is Josto. In the scene when he was whipping that dude who spoke Doctor Senator’s name, a thought flashed in my head, “Pookie is now Nino Brown. Only in America!” Did anyone happen to see what kind of poison Nurse Psycho used in her macarons? ---

Chris Rock does not seem to be able to transform into a grizzly older man. He just has a baby face, and them putting some gray paint in his hair makes it look even weirder But you’re absolutely right @monstro, Jason Schwartzman suffers from the same fate. He also still looks like _Rushmore_ (1998) Jason Schwartzman and is also not intimidating. So there you have it. They didn’t show what poison she put in her macarons. They showed a “Gauztex” box but from everything I can find that company just makes medical supplies such as tape. I thought maybe it was a box of latex gloves but she wasn’t wearing gloves while she was baking (and she was also rolling dough for making macarons which…??) so I think they kind of fluffed that scene. ---

I think Chris Rock’s disadvantage is his voice. Same guy same performance but with a stronger, bassier voice probably goes over better. ---

I’m guessing cyanide. The almond flour in the macarons would mask the flavor and smell until it was too late. ---

Personally, I think Chris Rock is doing a much better job than Martin Freeman (with his awful William H. Macy imitation) did in Season 1, and Freeman got nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe. ---

Yeah, I guess I’d agree with that. Jason Schwartzman is not only not intimidating, he’s playing just about the dumbest gangster ever. Keeps doing dumb things and putting himself needlessly into jeopardy. Meh episode, I thought. Seemed awfully risky for the nurse to poison her boss while in his presence - and just days, apparently, after snuffing one of her patients, after her boss already had an anonymous warning about her bad habits. Not sure why she wouldn’t have been immediately fired and/or investigated after _another_ patient of hers turned up dead. Why wouldn’t the schoolgirl have realized by now that her notebook was missing, and tried to recover it from the nurse’s apartment? Another good spooky moment, though, with the ghost in the coffin peeking out and then closing the lid just in time to be missed by one of Chris Rock’s goons. ---

He never took it seriously. ---

But even if she poisoned him the morning after she killed her latest patient, it seems farfetched to me that he wouldn’t have been informed that a patient committed to her care had died overnight, _and_ that he would be willing to eat anything she offered to him. ---

Had to go get a doctor real quick-like! I dunno. Even in 1950, an autopsy is going to reveal toot sweet that he was poisoned. BTW, I like trying to ID the art on the walls in movies and TV shows. I want to take a moment to talk about Jack Huston. (Odis Weff the police guy with OCD) Some of you may remember him as the fella with the half-blown-off face from “Boardwalk Empire.” He did a hell of a performance there and “back in those days” (2010) he was [screaming hot](https://images.app.goo.gl/wnqFW3ZBnRTBd3Ku7) to boot. He still is screaming hot I’m sure but I absolutely didn’t recognize him in this role. They made him look older and more plain. I’m totally here for it! And he’s doing another fantastic job playing his complex role! I love Jack Huston a lot. He makes me blush. ---

Jack Huston plays one of the villains in the movie “Antebellum”, which came out this August. He has a beard in that role, so I didn’t immediately recognize him.
