Farmers markets and money question

Woman I know clears a few hundred bucks threading eyebrows. I have considered doing it.

I looked into it for years, I found that there was a big turnover in vendors. A place like A2, they have a real good market there, lots of foody type people. Those folks will pay for organic, home grown produce. So there is a waiting list there, and vendors drive a couple hours one way to sell there. But there really isn’t another market as good in the whole state.

I have a family member that sells flowers at the FM on occasion for spare change, so she would be a hobbyist.

She’s a gardener, very creative, and her items are under priced. She might score a bunch of inexpensive floral baskets, add some soil and some rye grass seed, then she might cut some tulips from her garden and set them in the grassy basket and sell the basket for $15.00. She grumbles that the FM rules make her show up early and stay all day. (She will leave if she runs out of stuff, or else go jam with the band.)

She would be deliriously happy to come home with $150.00 for the day (about 6 hours at the market) which she will blow at the expensive, hippy grocery store on free-range coffee beans on her way home.

I dunno. I just makes her happy.

Thats what I’m thinking that farmers markets are just kind of a way to pay for ones hobby. They really are not a good business model.
