"Fart" and "Ass Fir"

My kids are watching Super Why on PBS, it’s a show that teaches them spelling and guessing (think Hangman). Anyways, the letters they displayed could be rearranged to spell the words in my title here. Anyways, they just showed the solutions, and “Fart” is actually “Raft”, and “Ass Fir” is actually “Ask First”.

How disappointing.

No need to worry until you see “likl add.”

I don’t get it.

I’m sorry. It’s an allegory devised to illustrate the futility of trying to learn to love in a society in which we’re systematically conditioned to hate.

And you omitted the “K” and “T” in your second anagram.

I need an allegory devised to illustrate the futility of trying to learn to love in a society in which we’re systematically conditioned to be confused by SDMB-ers.

Those of us in publishing would say that the “K” and “T” were TK – the rest of you would  .

I didn’t explain that as well as I could have. The second one was like the hangman game, with some letters missing. It was presented thusly…

FIR_S_

…and of course I came up with ASS FIR. I mean, who wouldn’t, right?

Hey, I got it. Though no one uses it, at least where I work.

Ah, the Dope – where someone will get even the obscure unfunny jokes …

I’ve been playing a lot of Text Twist so I got raft from fart right away. Unfortunately, Text Twist doesn’t think fart is a word. It’s annoying because everyone knows fart is a perfectly cromulent word.

Wait, fart is a hate word now?

No. But “Kill Dad” is.

[nitpick] Kill Dad isn’t a word; it’s a phrase. [/nitpick]

That was yesterday’s episode.
