I drove 500km last week without seeing another vehicle. Of course these were station tracks on a place right on the edge of the Simpson desert.
When I was in university we took a road trip to Toronto as our team had made it to the Vanier Cup. We drove from Sackville, NB to Toronto and started our journey at 10pm figuring we could alternate driving and sleeping between the 4 of us. Of course nobody slept at all. We decided to take the Renous Highway. A forlorn two lane between Mirimachi and Plaster Rock, NB that is known for not being the safest drive. We went about 200 km without seeing a single vehicle in the middle of the night and the middle of nowhere. It was the last week of November with fringes of snow and a good chance of more on the way. A fun trip but not our smartest decision.
