So now we know where C list actors go in the 00’s instead of the Love Boat. When next weeks promos promise Kevin Nealon and Melissa Gilbert . . . Just stupid. Best line, “She’s fucking fat.” Unfortunately, the rest of the show didn’t reach that level of humor. whistlepig ---

Won’t watch it, but I have a question: I heard a blurb on another show that Kirsty Ally is playing herself “as an out-of-work actress” 😕😕😕 How the hell do you get a job playing yourself as not having a job? Man, I need that gig! ---

What I don’t like is how she totally plays up the notion of “Fat=gross, disgusting, etc.”, and prides herself on trying to come across as piggish as possible. Not perpetuating any stereotypes here, are we, Ms. Alley? :rolleyes: ---

I couldn’t help but think that this is a loud and desperate cry for help. Who wants to start a count down to her entering a clinic for severe depression or some kind of mental breakdown? ---

There’s obvious cross-marketing with Jenny Craig, or whomever. Kinda like “Shallow Hal.” Let’s laugh at fat people but dress it up as parody. Meh. ---

Oh, come on now people, don’t knock it till you’ve seen it. Give it a chance. I gave it a chance… It sucked horribly. I an age where HBO and Showtime can come up with some fine original programming you’d expect they’d take the whole “fat actress” thing in some new direction or take an interesting angle on it. Nope. It’s so cliche’ ridden that you just watch it and yawn. Kirsty Ally as a nut job can be entertaining as seen in “Drop Dead Gorgeous”, but this just is lame fat jokes that could only be mildly entertaing to a room of 5th graders. (This was during a Showtime free preview weekend on DishNetwork. If it was supposed to get me to sign up for Showtime it didn’t work.) ---

I didn’t see the show, but I saw Kirstie on a talk show a couple of days ago plugging this, and it looked to me like she had lost a lot of weight. I would have described her as perhaps a bit zaftig, but certainly not fat. ---
