I am severely terrified of needles. TERRIFIED. I, a grown man, cry every single time I have blood taken. I was too horrified thinking about a “blood lab” and “sticks” while reading this thread to be angry about the prejudiced and judgemental language the OP used towards the overweight woman (which was quite bad, yes). Anyone else hate needles? ---

I hate needles, although I’m not as terrified of them as you are. Oddly enough, this hasn’t prevented me from donating blood or platelets over the years. And I have occasionally had trouble with sticks - one time when I was trying to donate platelets the tech got the needle in wrong and the inside of my elbow started swelling up. But that didn’t stop me from scheduling another appointment a few weeks later. listens for the sound of **kidneyfailure** running away screaming ---

Beautiful, but very practical. More likely to kill a human or bear with her hands than to flop around in a death-like pose. Her response to compliments on her veins was more along the lines of: “Um, thanks”. ---

Well, this little foray into the mind of an asshole has been disturbing and enlightening. I guess what I’d like to impress upon those of his ilk are that we all have prejudices and things we find repugnant about other humans, but what separates the good humans from the bad ones isn’t their fat or lack thereof, it’s the ability to KEEP THE HATE TO ONESELF. I’m not even saying that a reasoned discussion about possible solutions (however misguided and ridiculous they may be) is a bad idea in all circumstances, just cut out the derision. Plus, you have to realize when having these discussions, that if you have never been a member of a group you’re discussing, you DON’T KNOW SHIT. So let’s recap: Quit being such an asshole about your personal little prejudice and you will make friends and influence enemies. Until then, I hope you can see this, because I’m doing it as hard as I can. ---
