Today’s rant is the US and fat people. I spend a good portion of my time traveling on business. I hit the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Frankfurt, and London on a very, very frequent basis, and I also travel overseas on my holidays quite a bit. I currently live in Tokyo; suffice it to say that I get around quite a bit. And I get absolutely \*sick to my stomach \*when I go to the US and see the sheer percentage of people who are fat. I am not talking about ‘big’, or ‘heavy’ or ‘overweight’. Those, I can deal with. Hell, I am probably 5-7lbs a bit over my ideal weight myself. No, I am talking about the obese. The fat. The chunkers, the plumpers, and the porkers. In the US, I feel like some massive ‘fat people’s convention’ is following me around. People complaining that they can’t lose weight, while they scarf down an entire package of fat-free brownies at a single sitting. While washing it down with a massive Big Gulp from 7-11. While in the check-out line buying chocolate bars and potato chips for themselves and some snacks for the kids (on the plump side themselves). Or the people who complain that they get discriminated against because they are ‘overweight’. No, dimrod, you get discriminated against because you are a fat-ass; maybe you are a great person, but to me (in the position of potential spouse/lover/employer/business partner) you look unhealthy and unattractive (in the sense of not projecting a neat, professional image – this does not require one to be ‘beautiful/handsome’). You look like you simply have no will power - you are weak, and would rather eat to your heart’s content and complain about what a victim you are instead of doing a little hard work. Not someone I want on _my_ team. And don’t give me this crap about a ‘fat gene’. Bullshit. OK, maybe some people have a slower metabolism, or maybe their body does not digest food normally, whatever. (We will ignore that fact that you can in fact help speed up your body’s fat-burn potential). People may tend towards ‘overweight’ for these reasons, but I think that 98% of the time, people are obese because they choose to be. Fine - but then stop complaining about it, and accept the consequences. Another thing that makes me want to puke – the size of food portions in the US. Disgusting. Stuff your face with grease and oil until you can’t move – welcome to the US. In Canada, portions were big, but not obscene. Canada - the US without guns, the fat people, the stupid people, and the garbage… ---

My dad’s really, really fat – an terribly inconvenient side effect of the disease that nearly killed him when I was a young child. But, dammit, if my dad didn’t want to be fat, he shouldn’t have gone and gotten any old stupid disease, should he? Goddamn, webmastr, you’re real fucking brilliant. ---
