Fatal Fentanyl?

This new drug, suzetrigine, looks like a spinoff of anticonvulsants (lamotrigine has been on the market for many years) and we really are getting down to the molecular level, aren’t we?

(This is one reason why I am seriously thinking about putting my licenses on inactive status in 2026, something I always told myself I would never do.)

My understanding was there are 10 different sodium channels, and the 1.7 and 1.8 channels mostly control pain. This new drug selectively targets the 1.7 channel. I thought lamotrigine mostly worked by inhibiting the 1.4 sodium channel.

Nux vomica is actually the raw material for strychnine.
