All men interested in dating your daughter(s) that is. And if so, why? For purposes of this discussion, men includes boys over the age of 12. [Inspired by this post of **Oakminster’s**](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=10764473&postcount=6), which was probably a joke, but even so. ---

All men are pigs. There is no otherwise. Note that women are genetically encoded with the desire to domesticate pigs. ---

I only have two young daughters but, when the time comes, I plan to meet the gentleman downstairs and offer some Soldier of Fortune magazines to read. I have a machete that I absolutely love and I can sit there and sharpen it while we wait. My chain saws don’t start too well after the winter so I can go downstairs and get get one to fire up for maintenance purposes and run it for a couple of minutes. Then, I can get out the actual shooting targets which are caricatures of a typical teenage football player and challenge him to a shooting match in the backyard. His gun will have a bent barrel of course. Me blowing off the head of the target while he misses almost every time will be the highlight. I will then break out the state drivers handbook and give a pop quiz especially about drinking and driving followed by the math that it takes to get my daughter at home on time. ---

I’m a father of sons, and I used to want an upstairs porch over the front door where I could cough and rattle the newspaper when the guys came home too late. You fathers of girls sound like reasonable parents, IMHO. FYI, I don’t remember my father talking to any boy when my sister first brought them home. Sis said that several guys made the comment, “Boy, I sure wouldn’t want to meet him in a dark alley!” ---

No boys are just boys. Young men tend to be after what they have always been after, and bright teenage daughters somehow turn into hormone addled doofuses when it comes to the choices they make. It’s what keeps the species alive. ---

My daughter is grown now but I never thought so. I insisted all her dates come into the house and meet us. I tried to teach her how to respect herself and others and how to say no. I told her no boy who really cared for her would pressure them into doing anything she really didn’t want to do. I also taught her it was better to be honest and on birth control than pregnant when you didn’t want to be. She’s pretty independent so any guy who tried to be too controlling didn’t last long. ---

This really is a cultural difference between the Netherlands and the USA. Dutch men, (and we’re talking average numbers here, I’m sure there are exceptions) are much more influenced by feminism. Both the instinct to “hunt women” and the instinct to protect women are much, much less prominent here. They are bigger wusses, perhaps. I recall a show where a Duch camerateam were offered some prostitutes by an local warlord they were making a documentary about. The girls wriggled on the Dutch guys laps, but even the ones who didn’t have girlfriends at home tried to make polite conversation with the girls instead of flirting back. Just yesterday, there was a show on TV about Dutch athletes beign stationed in African tribes to see if they could measure up to the native’s demands for a “real warrior”. At least two of the boys would rather endure taunting then hit each other with sticks. The only time one of those boys stepped in to do anyting violent was when a cow, clumsily slaughtered for the feast of their arrival that night, needed to be put out of its mystery with a big rock to its head. ---

I’m no man but I have the smallest hope in the back of my mind that my daughter grows up gay. While men aren’t ‘pigs’ per say, they only care about one thing and will do whatever is necessary to get that and keep getting it. And yes, that’s biased and sexist of me to think that way but I can’t help it. ---

That way she can have a relationship consisting of shopping, cuddling, watching musicals and using a vibrator. ---
