I was never upset that she was living with her boyfriend, just for the reason that she was living with him. I was concerned that she she was supporting an unemployed guy with the kids’ child support money. I was concerned that she had been dating the guy for all of one month before he moved in, and he was essentially a stranger and we knew nothing about this person who was all of a sudden living with the kids. That she never told Greg that he had moved in (the family therapist told him). That she never told Greg that she was married. If this guy were smart and stable, I honestly would be overjoyed that the kids had a good male role model in their lives. But this guy is not that. Did I tell you he wrote nasty and threatening e-mails to Greg? Wouldn’t any parent be concerned about the character of a person their kids lived with 24/7? Look at the boys’ last stepfather. Is it any wonder we’re on guard? What would I have her do? I would have her not hook up with losers and criminals and subject her impressionable and vulnerable children to them. Women with kids should have a higher standard for the men they bring into their lives. But then again, to be fair, she is a welfare mom with 6 kids, she probably can’t set the bar too high or she’d be alone for the rest of her life. ---
