Remember, too, phone lines are down and with no electricity, people can’t recharge their cell phones. I’d be surprised if you _could_ reach someone in New Orleans.

I just [read about it](http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9159941/), myself. As **Eve** says, his being out of touch is not indicative one way or another. But with him being 77, I would have to say it ain’t looking good.

As I had mentioned in another thread, even before I heard he had gone missing I was telling the wife that his song _Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans?_ would have a new poignance. How much more so if The Fat Man had gone down with it?
Of course, Tom Waits’ _I Wish I Was in New Orleans_ also comes to mind.

I have in fact two versions of the Louis Armstrong singing it, but I associate it with Fats Domino. Although, if you heard Armstrong’s 1946 78 RPM version you might wonder why, as I am now doing.

Speaking as a fellow fat man, I don’t care how fat or self-destructive I am, drownin’s no way to die and if there’s a third floor I’m up there.
Wisecrackin’ aside, I logged on the internet tonight because the news hadn’t had an update. I’m glad the Fat Man is still with us.
