Favorite actor no one's ever heard of?

Abso-friggin-lutely. I was furious when Geoffrey Rush got all the attention (and the Oscar) for Shine when I thought Taylor had acted rings around him. Also check out Taylor’s starring role in the rather strange Simon Magus.

I used to be a big Suzie Plakson fan, especially in her Love & War role.

Hugo Weaving. Definitely.

Around my neck of the woods, no one’s heard of him, but elsewhere I know he’s fairly famous.

Sadly, as he does a lot of theatre in Australia, there’s no way I can catch all of his stuff. But I try.

I think he was ok in Four Rooms, but the movie itself didn’t get a whole lot of praise. To be honest, I sort of liked it. Loved the music in it as well, I still hear the tunes in Four Rooms on TV commercials (the Surreal Life, some car commercial), movie trailers (Truman Show), and other movies (Secretary). Reminds me that I should look into getting the soundtrack.

I wondered why I’ve never seen Tim Roth anywhere else when I saw Four Rooms, so I guess that’s a good sign.

Tim Roth was also featured in “Pulp Fiction” as one of the diner robbers.
Hugo Weaving? “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” Hugo Weaving? Beating the crap out of Keanu in “The Matrix” Hugo Weaving? Love him!
Suzie Plakson also made a great female Klingon bride for Worf on STTNG too…lol.

Can’t remember the name of the movie or the name of the actress but it was based on a Stephen King novel.

A commercial airliner flies through some kind of time warp and just before the end a bunch of flying teeth eat the airport. I thought the actress who played a blind girl was absolutely fantastic, but I’ve never seen her since, and I can’t figure out why.

Her name is Kate Maberly, in a movie called “The Langoliers”. A lot of people on IMDB didn’t like her because they said she never looked blind once she took the glasses off. I guess she moved her eyes around a lot in the direction something was happening:

“I’ve seen a lot of made-for-tv-movies. The characters are irritating, especially the little blind girl.”

“…a blind girl who keeps moving her eyes to look at whoever is speaking to her…”

“The little blind girl didn’t tug at my heart strings. More like pulling nails across a chalk board.”

I don’t remember what she was like, personally. I don’t think I noticed her being especially good or bad.

i’ve only ever seen goran vijnic in ‘er’, guin, what else has he done? i am a fan though.

anubis, hugo weaving is amazing.

teaelle, although i am not a fan of his disney show, i did see a few episodes of this season’s project greenlight and imho, shia lebouf was the best thing about it.

Well that’s disappointing to here. I guess I didn’t see her moving her eyes around, but, when she died, she did tug at my heartstrings. I guess I’m just not a very sophisticated movie critic but I still think she made an otherwise mediocre movie very enjoyable

What’s IMDB?

Internet Movie Database

Best place to find anything movies.

One of my favorite “unknown” supporting actors, remember 'Ol Mose from “The Searchers” w/John Wayne, all he wanted was his rocking chair. He was in a lot of stuff. Here’s a list courtesy of

Not bad for somebody most folks never heard of, huh?

Man–you people are listing all the good ones!

Michael Ironside, Brad Dourif, David Strathairn–you’ve got 'em all. Oh! Oh! Anyone seen the Ironside/Dourif film called “Common Bonds” (aka “Chaindance”)? Definitely B-Movie material, but I liked it anyway. Both got to play “good guys,” instead of the psychos and nutcases that they are both known for.

I’ll have to add some name, and since I suspected even before I opened this thread that the likes of Ironside, etc. would be taken, I offer up to you Terry Kiser. I like him when he’s playing humorous rolls, but basically, this guy can do everything.

Another oldie but goodie, Geoffrey Lewis. He’s been around forever (seen in Spaghetti Westerns and Clint Eastwood movies) and I’ve always liked him. I think he’s excellent in comedic rolls.
