He was the main attraction on a weekly, hour-long TV show that was reasonably long running. Considering the time needed to put together such a project every single week for 39 weeks there isn’t a lot of time for boozing. Movies are slightly different. A binge drinker can stay sober long enough to complete the shooting schedule. If he or she happens tie one on those scenes can be “shot around” and done later because there’s lots of other stuff to be done that doesn’t involve the actor. ---

Any asshole can drink himself stupid and have his vomit encrusted shame displayed on consumption whaddyacallit dot com but Dino made being drunk look good and sang damn well while doing it. ---

In re: Dean Martin. Seems I read somewhere that he actually wasn’t such a heavy drinker and that the coctail he carried around was more or less just part of his schtick.
