Iā€™ll throw in on this one. Squirrel Nut Zippers Dave Matthews (up till his first big release) Kapelye (KLEZMER!!!) Spike Jones & His City Slickers Individuals: Eddie South Stuff Smith Spider John Koerner And one local band: Mobiaā€™s Trip (I know the bassist and he is FIERCE!) Mostly I like individual songs I hear on the radio or whatever. Havenā€™t gotten to the point of being a fanatic about any particular bandsā€¦ except maybe for Spike. * * * All Hail Unca Cecil, or the next best thing available! ---

Sigh . . . all of these obscure bands . . . I suddenly feel so uncool. But around here, thereā€™s only three stations that donā€™t play Country music, and those that donā€™t seem to only play Mariah Carey and Brittney Spears. (Shudder) And the only rock station plays only mainstream rock. The only record store is K-Mart or Wal-Mart. (Shudder) So I have an excuse for my limited knowledge of ANY cool music. ---

What part of Ohio would that be?Go hang around Columbus or even Dayton, they have some record stores.Up near Toledo you could head for Ann Arbor to be cool. ---

Some really great bands/artists I like (which no one has mentioned at all) Make me feel like even more of an outcast. Persuasions (Best acapella group ever) Little Richard (Great music and funny too) Wanda Jackson (Best female rockabilly) Esquerita (Like Little Richard through a blender) Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys (Hottest band around today-Western swing and rockabilly) Hank Ballard and the Midnighters (Naughty stuff for the fifties) Louis Jordan (Too cool) Elvis (before the army, nobody could swing like the King) I better stop. This list could go on forever. ---

Although they are not one of my favorite bands, the Moody Blues are without a doubt the best band I have ever seen live and I have seen more than a big handful of concerts. I saw them two years ago and those old guys can out-rock any of these younger bands - by FAR! The show was so totally amazing that I still think about it every once in a while. Yep - out of the blue, the thought ā€œWOW, that Moody Blue concert was awesomeā€ pops into my head.
