Looking at my username, you probably wouldn’t realize that in addition to Pink Floyd, I also like:
- Atreyu
- Bauhaus
- Marylin Manson
- Black Label Society
…in that order.
Looking at my username, you probably wouldn’t realize that in addition to Pink Floyd, I also like:
…in that order.
I’m not going to put these in a numerical preference, but…
Pink Floyd, Rush, Beatles, electronic music (too many to list), and Sigur Ros.
IÈll also add that the latest Dolchamar album, Rebela Sono*, is excellent. Since I saw them live back in 2000, they’ve added four more members, changed the spelling of their name slightly, gone classic rock, tightened up as a group, and become damn good.
Moving this from IMHO to Cafe Society.
I will not go to a party at MrBlueSky’s. Not even for free beer.
Erasure
Squeeze
Abba
Garbage
Creed
But there’s also Blink182, Marcy Playground, Cowboy Junkies, Mary Prankster, Leo Kottke,
ELO, and this doesn’t list my Country/Jazz/Classical faves.
In order of fanatical devotion
These probably change about every other day…
The Beatles
Radiohead
Enon
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Dandy Warhols
No, wait, replace The Dandy Warhols with Spoon. Replace NMH with Sigur Ros. Replace Enon with Polysics. Gah too many!
Well, I don’t drink beer and, thus, would not serve any at a party.
However, in this case, I will be serving your favorite kind at my next party. A free keg for everyone!!
Nyah! Nyah! Nyah!
In no order…
Bright Eyes
Elvis Costello
Death Cab For Cutie
Pink Floyd
Tilly and the Wall (they’ve only got one album out, and it is perfect)
Damn, I should’ve put the Smashing Pumpkins on there. And the Magnetic Fields. And the Fugees! ::Head Explodes!::
Big Star
Radiohead
Leonard Cohen
PJ Harvey
Nick Cave
No chance of limiting this list to only 5 and in no particular order:
King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Liquid Tension Experiment, Br-549, Reverend Billy C. Wirtz, Beatles, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin Band, California Guitar Trio, Dead Kennedy’s, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Danny Dean & the Homewreckers, David Bowie, Junior Brown, Genesis (pre-Abacab!), Ramones, Can, Gong, Steve Hillage, Hawkwind, FM (the Canadian version), Paula Cole, Robert Fripp.
And many many more, my “favorite” changes several times a day
Unclviny
The Clash
The Velvet Underground
Violent Femmes
Iggy Pop/The Stooges
The Who
I could keep going, there are so many. Zappa and MMW are really the only ones that keep their positions in any favorite band list of mine.
:smack: Next time i’ll read the entire first post and perhaps some others before replying…just take my list as Top 5 bands and Top 5 bands other than my top 5.
Staying within the realm of rock:
Frank Zappa (Technically not a band? He contains multitudes.)
King Crimson
Jethro Tull
The Beatles
Gentle Giant
Radiohead
Mesh (the UK one, not Mesh StL)
The Thrill
The Seatbelts
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (back in the day, anyway)
Placebo
Mayfield
Yoko Kanno (not a band, but one hell of a songwriter)
…there’s another one, too, but the name escapes me right now.
Didn’t they sing “Rio”?
