Since we’re talking about the worst of comic book art in another thread, we might as well have a more positive thread to balance things out. I searched for a thread similar to this and couldn’t find one, so here we go. What are some of your favorite comic book covers? [My favorite - Justice League International #20](http://www-personal.umich.edu/~ianander/jl20.jpg) Does it get any more perfect than that? It’s simple, with great Ty Templeton art, and it absolutely begs you to look inside (and the story inside is grea, too). After that, I don’t really have a list, but I did remember a few more that I like a lot: [Avengers Anual #2](http://www-personal.umich.edu/~ianander/avengers2.jpg) Comes up a lot when discussing favorite covers… and for good reason. It’s beautiful. My dad gave me his old copy when I was a kid, and I must’ve read it about a thousand times. [Sleepwalker #1](http://www-personal.umich.edu/~ianander/sleepy1.jpg) Sleepwalker was a pretty mediocre book with a good concept. However, the cover to the first issue is great. In the Superman-smashing-a-car tradition, the hero of the book looks like an out-of-control monster. Which I like. [Iron Man #247](http://www-personal.umich.edu/~ianander/ironman247.jpg) Great team-up image. That’s all there really is to say about it… but it _is_ cool, isn’t it? So, what’ve you got? [The Authority #9](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/Nekogami/Comics%20Random/authority09.jpg) The Engineer is just hot, and I like Jenny and Hawksmoor reflected in her nano-skin. Gorilla in a beret with heavy weaponry, pushing a baby carriage. What more could you want? The look on Roy’s face, and, to a slightly lesser extent, Connor’s, make this one. The Warlord had so many good covers. I especially liked #19 and #56. You can look them up at [Mile High Comics](http://www.milehighcomics.com/) if you like. And oh so many just plain sexy ones. Mmmm, fur bikinis. ---

Off the top of my head, I remember liking [Flash 289](http://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/1428/400/1428_4_289.jpg) and I’m also partial to [Secret Origins #40](http://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/3166/400/3166_4_40.jpg) More for the story behind it than the actual art. (Going from memory) The artist was told way back when that the comics that sold the most were the ones that had… 1. Gorillas 2. Dinosaurs 3. Motorcycles 4. Fires 5. The main character crying So he put everything into one cover. ---

I would have, but couldn’t decide which one! I have an unholy love for that series. I was such a Courtney as a kid, it’s not even funny. I love [this](http://image.milehighcomics.com/istore/images/fullsize/05365523652.8.GIF) Astro City cover. Simple but dramatic and it reminds me of [this](http://www.maxithecat.de/UHBMCC/BILDER/GMXMARCHIV4HEFT141.JPG) Uncanny X-Men classic. I love great underdog stories and these covers capture that aspect of those stories perfectly. And while I’m linking to John Byrne X-Men covers, can someone explain to me Cyclops’ pectoral anatomy in [this](http://image.milehighcomics.com/istore/images/fullsize/97792366288.137.GIF) cover? ---

Some good picks so far. I love those Filth covers and Ted Naifeh is a really great artist (good writer, too).
