A very loose cover, admittedly.😛 The Young Canadians (formerly the Ktels before they had to change the name) take on the [Hawaii 5-O Theme.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KNUnLaRekg) A disappointing cover by one of my favourite bands from the 80s - Scratch Acid: [Damned For All Time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0r36MA01cc) (from Jesus Christ Superstar) Just to compare: the actor’s [singing](https://youtu.be/arwTvFPvpBQ?t=74) in the movie _totally_ curbstomps over Yow’s attempt. ---

> [@astorian](#): > > Rod Stewart’s covers of Elton John’s “Country Comfort” and the Temptations ’ “(I Know) I’m Losing You” In his early days, Stewart did a lot of great covers: Dylan’s “Only A Hobo,” Mike d’Abo’s “Handbags and Gladrags,” Bobby Womack’s “It’s All Over Now” all come to mind, in addition to the excellent songs you mention. Plus, the Faces did a cover of McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” that’s, well, amazing! ---

The Cardigans - [Sabbath Bloody Sabbath](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9PT4CM8LQc), I don’t like it better than the [original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir1YmJlnvkY), but _damn_ that’s an awesome re-working. Dinosaur Jr. - [Just Like Heaven](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJLOr8S2d2E). When asked why they did it, the answer was, “To get waver chicks.” The Jazz Butcher - [Roadrunner](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlF_ytUD-yM). Of course, it helps to cover one of the greatest songs ever, even if he universalized the lyrics a bit - “I’m in love with modern suburban bleakness.” Plus, Sikorskyes (spelling sure sounds correct) from hell! And a cover song that I heard over and over again as a child, and made me the man I am today: The Fendermen - [Mule Skinner Blues](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3-mh3vXDA0) ---

Belong turn Syd Barrett’s [Late Night](https://youtu.be/-f7GuS9F0kM) into a ghostly cloud of disintegrating white noise. American reactions to [this Spanish punk classic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t02dFZI7nw4) tend to be pretty radical. Most laugh; a few have berated me angrily. _Miña terra galega_, “sweet home Galiza”, an adaptation of Sweet Home Alabama with title in Galego and lyrics in Spanish. ---
