Favorite Directors?

Yuen Woo-Ping: better known in Hollywood as a fight choreographer (you’ve seen his work in the Matrix movies, the Kill Bill movies, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, …), he was also the director of classic kung fu movies like Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow and Drunken Master as well as more recent ones like Iron Monkey.

The Wenders documentary with the directors is Chambre 666 (Room 666). It’s really good.

I don’t exactly hate the later-period Scorsese, I just find them a bit hollow and glossy. He’s got mad skills as a director but seems to make the same movie, tonally, repeatedly. I haven’t seen Silence yet; it just barely got a release.
