W. C. Fields was a fountain of faux swearing. One of his most used was “Godfrey Daniels!” Say it like “God-DAMN-it!” and you’ll see why.

And now I remember “jhup” and “bleb” in Samuel Delany’s _Empire Star_ … which are not only swearwords, but kind of a plot point, too.

Give the man a cigar, or rather an Alsakanite cigarette.

By Klono’s gadolinium guts!

I give up - what is ‘Mrifk’? If it is a E.E. Smith reference, it must be from the Family D’Alembert series, which I have not read all of. Every other work from the master I have read and own.

Some of the cuss words in _A Clockwork Orange_ were pretty cool. Yarbles and all that cal. Wish I had the book handy so I could pick out some of the more interesting comments made by Alex and his droogs.

Let’s not blame Smith, or even Stephen Goldin, for “Mrifk”. It’s the favourite oath of Grignr the Ecordian, in “The Eye of Argon”. It’s the sort of thing you would say if you were suddenly surprised by a giant, many-fauceted scarlet emerald.

A lot of my favorites have already been mentioned. I’ll throw in the creative use of ‘Finagle’ from some of Larry Niven’s books, especially ringworld. " (Finagle’s heavy hand!!!)

Also, in ‘Firefly’ didn’t the characters often just slip into chinese to swear a blue streak? (Without the fox censors being able to do much about it LOL.)
