Hmm, I’ve always sort of wondered about the stormtroopers who oversaw torturing Han Solo in Cloud City. Is that their only job? Do they carry around the machine and set it up wherever needed? Any background on them? ---

There’s something about the Random Imperial Dude at 1:18 of the [opening scene to _Return of the Jedi_](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQB2NXfJev0). “Inform the Commander that Lord Vader’s shuttle has arrived.” He’s such a smug, arrogant, eminently punchable Imperial douchebag. He’s like the _epitome_ of smug, arrogant, eminently punchable Imperial douchebags. ---

OK, so I think I’ve figured out something: the black uniforms seem to correspond to technical specialists, while the green uniforms are for officers. The black uniforms are “working” uniforms, the green are “dress” uniforms. I never thought much about this before but I think I’m onto something here. ---

Also, in [this scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnNSnJbjdws) from _A New Hope_, there is one officer who is wearing a _white_ uniform. I think this is the only time you see any Imperial guy wearing one. This officer appears older than the others, and is also the only one with any facial hair. Could it be that his uniform, and mustache, were “grandfathered” in or something? ---

He’s a colonel in the Imperial Security Bureau, the Empire’s equivalent of the Gestapo/KGB, which is why he has the white uniform, and the ISB’s liaison to Naval Intelligence, which is why he’s in the officer meeting. ---

Besides the screaming lack of surveillance cameras, this is one of the incredible holes in Imperial security. Happens over and over in both the movies and the two series (Clone Wars and Rebels). If you’re holding rebel prisoners, or involved in a high security mission, why the fuck are you accepting unscheduled shuttles with older clearance codes? How bad is your training that it never occurs to anyone that there may be something up with that? One of the worst is the episode ‘Relics of the Old Republic’ in Star Wars Rebels. The Star Destroyer jumps in with Agent Callas and Admiral Konstantine. The Ghost is floating right there in space, easily in visible range, shut down. They don’t scan it at all or do anything about it. Now, Hera had powered down, saying they can’t be scanned, but given past precedence, they could certainly detect her life signs on board if they did scan it. If I was either of the Imperial leaders, I’d blow it up, just to be sure, but they ignore it. Then upon sighting the crawler on the surface, Konstantine asks if they should commence ground bombardment. Callas insists on going down for a ground assault. :smack: No man, just blow the fuck out of them from orbit, blow up the Ghost, scan for life signs and call it a day. ---

The black were what the stormtroopers wore when not in armor. The white tunics and black trousers were the intelligence agents. The olive were the regular army/navy.
