Based off discussions in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=647940) about Geico. Seems like since Geico started doing their weird commercials, now every insurance company has some sort of memorable campaign. Overall, which company makes your favorite commercials (as far as insurance company commercials go)? Geico has been the best lately, but the best of all time was from Nationwide about 35 years ago: (Mom and daughter are picking up dad at the airport. Note that mom and daughter are cheerful and upbeat throughout this): Dad: How were things while I was away? Daughter: The flowers died. Dad: Oh, too bad. When did that happen? Daughter: When the garage burned down. Dad: What?! How did that happen? Mom (offhandedly): Sparks from the house, I guess. Dad: What??? Mom: They think it was started by the burglar. Dad: Burglar!!! Mom: The one who fell and is suing us. Dad: ??? At which point she tells him how the insurance company handled it all. ---

I kinda like the Farmers one, too. “That’s Meatloaf.” “That’s…also Meat Loaf.” “We are Farmer’s…dumpitty-ump-ump-ump-ump-ump!” (I get that stupid jingle stuck in my head sometimes…) ---

Mayhem for the win though I think Gieco maintains a consistent high level across all the different themes. The ads from Progressive are rather bland themselves but Flo is a bright shining light. ---
