I have no idea what sparked this random thought in my head, but what the hell: What is your all time favorite mini series and why? It can be a cable show or regular TV. Mine is from A& E: Pride and Prejudice, with (be still my heart) Colin Firth. My neighbor turned me on to this (she had the 5 video tape compliation and loaned it to me which got me hooked.) I can now saftely say that I’m well viewed on Jane Austen’s stuff. (Why read the book when you can get the whole story in 90 minutes 🙂 ) * * * Make it your mantra ‘I want that barcolounger ,but absolutely will not bid above $30 for it’. - Yankee Blue ---

Thw Winds of War and War and Remembrance. I got into them when I was working the late shift at the hospital. On the way home, I stopped at King Soopers to return the last installment and get the next one (they were 99 cents). Took a whole month. I read the books too, and like to compare what I rea vs. what was produced. * * * “That was a hell of a thing.” ---

Here’s another vote for “Rich Man Poor Man” – what a great bunch of talent. I don’t think the guy who killed Nolte ever worked again, did he? Second favorite would be Centennial – okay, okay, I know Richard Chamberlain was in it, and Robert Conrad trying to do a French accent, but it also had Stephen McHattie – the 70’s precursor to Lance Henriksen. I’d sit through that one again in a heartbeat just to watch him. ---

Centennial was great too, AuntiePam. However, we must clarify: the guy in Rich Man Poor Man killed Nick Nolte’s character, NOT Nick Nolte! And I remember he said he got hundreds of death threats for his effort! He was a villain, all right! ---

When I was a wee lad, I thought the most powerful thing I’d ever seen on TV was “Roots.” I couldn’t wait for the next installment, and I was sad when it ended. ---

My favorites: Shogun, Holocaust (very powerful drama) on A&E Jane Eyre with Timothy Dalton (they had the good sense to have Jane be rather plain looking as she is discribed in the book) and Tenko also from A&E . ---
