What are some lyrics that you misheard? Mostly, I just couldn’t understand what they were singing half the time, but there were songs that I thought they were singing one thing and it was something else (or at least the lyrics sheet said it was something else).

I used to think Secret Agent Man was Secret _Asian_ Man. I think that must be fairly common, as my husband thought the same thing. Of course, he wasn’t an adult when it was pointed out he was wrong.

The Capitol Steps group made this song into a parody which was, in fact, “Secret Asian Man”. It was on their 1997 CD _Sixteen Scandals_.

^Never heard the parody. 8’ll have to check it out. My error was pointed out by DH, probably around 1984.
One step to the left of topic - He also pointed out that it was _Wily_ Coyote, not _Willie E._ Coyote. In my defense, that’s never said out loud in the show IIRC.
I’m sure I have loads of misheard lyrics but he isn’t here to remind me of them ATM.

It’s neither. It’s Wile E. Coyote. It hasn’t been mentioned in any Roadrunner cartoons, but there are several cartoons in which he tries to outwit Bugs Bunny and speaks. He usually introduces himself as “Wile E. Coyote, Genius!” There’s also a sign by his door.
Bugs: Are you in, Genius? Are you in, capable? In, solent? In, describable? In, bearable?

I know there were a few that I misheard but the one that comes to mind is the old nut from ABC, “When Smokey sings…I fear violence”. Never quite understood why people would get violent when Smokey sang.

Said it before, will say it again…
Elton John’s _Someone Saved My Life Tonight_ has the following lyric:
“Someone saved my life tonight. sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me, didn’t you dear?”
I misheard it as
“Someone saved my life tonight. should have they?
You almost had your hooks in me, didn’t you dear?”
I thought “sugar bear” was extremely stupid and I had to be mishearing things until I was corrected of this on this message board.
In my defense, my version is better. 😉
