The 427 films of Morty Fineman, including “The Whole Story Of America,” “Adolescent Sexopolis,” “The Man With Two Things,” “Big Burning Boat,” “Assassin in a See-Through Blouse,” “Nuclear Nun,” “UFO Babes,” “Don’t Pick at It,” and “That’s President Draft Dodger to You!”
The Arch-enemy of Evil, sequel to the classic 1970s move Doc Savage, mentioned as the closing credits are about to roll.
And I believe that 1982’s The Sword and the Sorceror mentioned a planned sequel as the end (IIRC). If so, that much-anticipated sequel never materialized, either.
On The A-Team TV show, Col. Hannibal (George Peppard) Smith’s real “day job” was as a movie monster. He was constantly referring to the great performance he had done as “The Aquamania” in the title role.
That’s cool, but I’d rather see Alexandro Jodorowski’s version. And epic space opera from the guy who made El Topo with a soundtrack by Pink Floyd would have been the single coolest movie ever made.
How about Stanley Kubrick’s A.I.? Sure, there were some neat Kubrick references in the Spielberg film, but I would have liked to see what Kubrick would have done with it.
Have you seen the made-for-TV miniseries version of Dune they did for the Sci Fi Channel a couple of years ago?
It wasn’t a mega-budget blockbuster or anything, but (A) it was 6 hours long and a hell of a lot more enjoyable than the De Laurentis version, and (B) you got to see Chani’s tits.
Personally, i’m upset that they’ve never made a “Wonder Woman” movie. They’ve made movies of Superman, Batman, Supergirl, Spider-Man, the Hulk (forthcoming), the Spawn…for god sake, they’ve even made a Daredevil movie! I mean, Daredevil gets the feature film treatment before Wonder Woman?? Unbelievable!
The Catcher In The Rye…there was talk quite a few years back, but I believe J.D. didn’t go for it.
Biggest disappointment was:
The Front Runner
A classic gay book that has come thisclose to being filmed twice. Most recently with Paul Newman playing the part of the coach.
When I saw Blue Oyster Cult in 1991, before playing “Black Blade” the singer announced, “Any Elric fans out there? In 1992 or 1993 there will be, I can guarentee, an Elric movie”.
Referring to the Elric of Melibone series of fantasy novels by Michael Moorcock. Needless to say it never materialized.
Also, around the time The Empire Strikes Back came out, George Lucas announced that there would be 3 prequels and 3 sequels after the original Star Wars trilogy. But in recent interviews he has been saying there won’t be any more movies after Episode 3, so no Episodes 7, 8 and 9 after all.
