I’ll suggest the illegal gun-buying scene in _Ronin_. Everything you need to know about the characters and set up is there. A very tense little short film all on its own. ---

I haven’t watched _The Messenger_ (about Joan of Arc) all the way through, but I have watched the different scenes where Joan [confronts her “conscience” in the form of Dustin Hoffman](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf7YSlJReVM). If you stitched them together, from where Joan first begins to doubt herself, to where she gets on her knees and begs for the opportunity to confess, I think that’d be a pretty good short film treatment of Joan of Arc, independent of the rest of the movie. (The movie itself hasn’t gotten the greatest of reviews, I think.) It might even work as a stage play. ---
