I am a devoted Pepsi drinker, but only if I have no Super G Black Cherry soda. That stuff is just bursting with flavor unlike any other soda I’ve ever had, and I’m a fan of generic sodas. Anyone agree? Or have other nominations? ---

I’ve got a serious Safeway Select Cola addiction. I like the stuff better than any major brand cola, and it’s only 25 cents a can, even from the the vending machine. ---

Here’s another one for Cheerwine! Man, that stuff is great. And Cheerwine cake too. Wow! Too bad I can’t get it where I live. Not sure if it counts as an off-brand, but I’ve always been a fan of Inca Cola. Kind of a cream soda from South America. My uncle’s from Peru and he introduced me to it, but now that my grocery store has an “international” aisle I can find it there too. ---

In spite of the horrid name: [Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer](http://www.pennsylvaniadutchbirchbeer.com). Smoother than any of the other “big” brands of birch, although obviously your best birch beer still comes from a road side stand in a recycled one-gallon milk jug (particularly the time it blew up all over the back seat, and flodsis, but that’s another story). A-Treat, a local soft drink company out of Allentown, PA, has some real good stuff, too. ---

A friend in college turned me on to Vernor’s, which is kind of a … gee, I guess “ginger ale” comes closest, but I can’t really describe it. I don’t drink it regularly any more, but I still enjoy it on occasion. ---

I’m a serious ginger ale addict. My favorite is **Vernor’s, \*\* followed closely by Outrageous Brew, Reed’s Ginger Brew, Stewart’s Ginger Beer, and** Cock & Bull Ginger Beer, \*\* and I’m sure there would be others if I had access to them, but I don’t, so forgive me if I left out your favorite. I also like **Barq’s** root beer, but a real off-brand, at least around here, that I really like is **Dad’s Cherry Limeade.** It tastes just like it sounds like it would taste. The only place I can get it is at Rainbow Foods. Is it mainstream somewhere else in the U.S.? ---

Adirondack Orange Citrus Frost. Though the one store that sold it has gone out of business around here. ☹ I also like Adirondack Citrus Frost, Diet-Rite Tangerine, and anything from Stewart’s (the Denver Stewart’s, not the New York one) except for their Ginger Ale (though I think it’s great in concept). I’ve never dared try it, but I am intrigued by Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray Tonic. ---

PA Dutch is fantastic and makes an excellent birch beer float. Haven’t seen any roadside birch beer stands lately, though. I guess they don’t have any in Oslo, **flodnak**? Second only to PA Dutch BB is the _real_ Frank’s Pale Dry Ginger Ale. \ When I was a kid, Frank’s ginger ale wasn’t as sweet and it had a very sharp gingery bite to it. It had a flavor more like Vernors, only drier and without the aftertaste. Since the company changed hands, when you can get their ginger ale it’s all syrupy-sweet like the major brand stuff. Doesn’t anyone make ginger ale that doesn’t taste like ginger flavored sugar syrup? \ Yer pal, Zappo ---

Moxie. Know it, fear it, love it. The soda so good they had to put a picture of a dentist on it. When there’s no Moxie around, an RC will do. In a previous life I use to enjoy Mr. Pibb, Fresca, and Tahitian Treat. ---

I post another vote for **Cheerwine.** I can get it as my soda choice at the local Wendy’s too! Not exactly an off-brand, but I also love Welch’s Grape Soda. Not too many places seem to carry it around here, though. ---
