Inspired by the thread about one-hit wonders from the '80s. I liked “MMM MMM MMM MMM” by the Crash Test Dummies and “Peaches” by the Presidents of the United States of America. Both were iconic in their right, but as far as I know neither group went on to great things afterward. ---

“In the Meantime” by Spacehog is one of the finest songs of the decade, but unfortunately they didn’t have much of a career beyond that. “California” by Wax was a memorable song with a memorable video (directed by Spike Jonze), but I can’t say for certain that the band’s career was all that memorable as that’s all I really know them for. Just missing the cut (as the song was released in 2000, but I’m young and for subjective purposes it might as well have been the 90’s) is Wheatus and “Teenage Dirtbag.” ---

I got hit in the face and knocked out sometime during the nineties. I’m still wondering what the hell happened… The music video for peaches was hecka weird. Wasn’t there ninjas in the trees? ---

This thread is bringing back memories of my college days. Let me go look at my old CDs. Ah, here’s a couple: “[Brimful of Asha](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDe6regyJnU)” by Cornershop. Warning: couldn’t find the original video, so I used this one with random pictures. All the others had the Fatboy Slim remix. “[Blue](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9rFR2Jll1I)” by the Jayhawks. I don’t know if they were famous in the area where the band came from, but this song got the most airplay in LA out of anything they did. “[Legend of a Cowgirl](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVqeSfGXIwA)” by Imani Coppola “[Stars](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rfbn3ieVUYU&feature=related)” by Hum - don’t own the CD, but found on YouTube and realized this got played on KROQ a lot “[Are You Jimmy Ray](http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skoPxPZmySs&feature=related)?” by Jimmy Ray - heard the other day while eating at IHOP. I hadn’t seen the video, so when I found it, I was surprised to see it was shot in some of the less glamorous parts of LA (near the river, on and around the older bridges). I was going to say “[Plowed](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHjdmNLs0go)” by Sponge, but then I remembered they also did “Molly (Sixteen Candles Down the Drain,)” which I hated so I’m not linking to it. ---

A lot of the previously mentioned bands had more than one hit, or at least had singles that played often on the radio here. I was just listening to Breathe by Seven Channels. Here are some others looking through my music. I may be mistaken and some of these are from the early 00’s. Custom - Hey Mister Dig - Believe Green Jelly - Three Little Pigs Hed PE - Bartender Pist-on - Grey Flap Prick - Animal Prong - Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck Sublime - Santeria Systematic - Beginning of the End Some of these weren’t really big hits, but they were the only songs by those bands that I ever heard on the radio. Pity too. ---
