A lot can change in 15 years. I’d personally be concerned if my tastes had been frozen for 15 years. I see I reposted half my list from then, today. That’s a good mix of old and new, I think. I also see I made the same comment about EPs then, too 🙂 ---

Round Here opens August and Everything After, the debut of Counting Crows. August is basically a perfect album for me and the way Round Here opens with Adam’s simple vocal is such a gorgeous introduction to the band. ---

One of my favorite one hit wonders dates from 1969. I enjoy the song, but didn’t know which album it came from. And I don’t know any other songs from the group. It turns out it is the lead song on their debut album. I don’t think it’s been mentioned here yet. Again, Alice in Chains had a few songs before their first full-length album, but there is something appropriate to hearing Layne for the first time(as many of us did) singing We Die Young in their first full album. I think Hozier came strong out of the gate with “Take Me To Church,” the first track off his eponymous debut album (somehow that was a decade ago???). Maybe still what he’s known for; most of the way to a billion views on the music video. It was absolutely huge for him last summer; it hit #1 on the U.S. and UK charts (among a number of other countries), and was on a number of “best songs of 2024” lists. ---
