Ok, we have a pile od favorite movies and albums types of posts; Let’s get really snooty for a bit: What are the best damn paintings ever?
My votes (for starters):
Lotto’s portrait of Andrea Odoni
Van Eyck’s St. Luke with the Virgin
Vermeer’s view of Delft
and Francis Bacon’s take on Velasquez’s Pope.
Any takers?
To this we can add the paintings which make us cringe in pain: Thomas Hicks’ “Peaceable Kingdom” makes me flail about in seizures. Ugh! I HATE that thing.
(sorry, there’s just been a lot of discussion of BMs and going wee-wee lately.)

I like Dali in general, but his religious paintings are truly inspired.
My favorite painting that I have actually personally seen (not a picture or reproduction but the real thing) is Thomas Hart Benton’s _Persephone_ (and no, it doesn’t have the same Grapes-of-Wrath feeling that most of his paintings do).

My preferences change from time to time
Right now I am fond of watercolors by Steven Hawk and all of Mark Ryden’s work (especially Meat Maji and St. Barbie).

## Yikes! that is a tough one as I have so many. It would probably be better to name the artist. I love Monet, O’Keefe, DeLaCroix, Van Gogh, Renoir, Raphael, and Reubens. Gotta love any man who paints a woman with hips!
