Favorite prison movie

Oh, yeah, a rather recent one I’ve seen lately about an English footballer in prison. Mean Machine is pretty good.

One of the funniest movies that features a women in prison section is “Fatal Conflict,” a little skeleton in Kari Wuhrer’s closet. At one point there’s a matte painting of a space colony labelled – 2030: Aldeberan Women’s Prison Colony.

OK, so we’re gonna have interstellar space travel in less than 30 years, with colonies yet. And one of the first things we’ll do when we get into outer space is build women’s prisons…

OK, works for me!

I respectfully disagree.

At least half of the film takes place in the interment camp and the film is about both physical and emotional prisons and becoming free of them.

At the end long after being released from a real prison one of Basie’s friends kills the Japanese boy. Basie and his crew are still imprisoned by the idea of the war though in reality and for Jim, the war is over.

Jim has to let go of his material wants, crystal chandliers and white pianos to finally get back to his most valuable possion, his parents love.

Another one of my noms Runaway Train is simular but is only physically in prison for a brief time. However, imprisonment is the central theme and driving forces of each character.

Cool Hand Luke

I’m sure there’s a good movie in Shawshank Redemption somewhere, but I’ll be damned if I can find it.

Couple of made-for-TV movies:

The Man Who Broke 1,000 Chains
Three on a Match

Chopper is damn good. If you like the film, get the book, and then you’ll be able to say, with great pride, that you couldn’t kill Mark ‘Chopper’ Read.
