Favorite Rock vocalists

Not all my favorites are particularly “smooth”, I usually like voices that have a range of abilities. I can’t stand the ones who only scream, though.

Thom Yorke (Radiohead)
Layne Staley & Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains. Together they had some great harmonies. It’s a shame Layne died, I always hoped he’d get his act together again.)
Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots)
Deborah Harry (Blondie)

Maynard from Tool and R. Plant.

Oh, forgot to add: Rivers Cuomo. Even though Weezer’s last two albums were crap, their first two still rank among my favorites of the last fifteen years (especially the brilliant Pinkerton).

Robert Plant

Oh yeah I love his voice too! I don’t agree with the green album being crap, (I dislike Maladroit quite a bit though), but Pinkerton is my favorite Weezer album. I’ll bet you can guess my favorite Weezer song, based on my name!

Oh, I’m a rock chick, and I especially love screamers. My favorites (in no particular order, except the 1st two):

Eddie Vedder
Chris Cornell
Bryan Johnson
Bon Scott
Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury
Layne Staley
Sting

I agree with pretty much everyone so far, so I won’t do any repeats (except one), but these guys are pretty good, too:

Jon Anderson, Jesse James Dupree, Billy Gibbons, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, the guy from Corrosion of Conformity (is it Pepper?), Gary Louris…

but my vote for “Best” is Chris Cornell.

Actual headline: “Church end probe of Gay Bishop”

Black Francis/Frank Black (The Pixies)
Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys & bunch of collaborations)
A. W. Yrjänä (CMX (A Finnish band))
Tod A. (Cop Shoot Cop, Firewater)
Maynard James Keenan (Tool)

The Demon of Screamin’ himself, Steven Tyler
Freddie Mercury
Janis Joplin

Bonn Scott
Bob Plant
Rodge Daltrey

I cant believe so many people are saying Thom Yorke

Nobody’s mentioned David Bowie yet?

OK, noboy’s gonna agree with me on any of these but:

Greg Graffin of Bad Religion

“Dick” of the Subhumans

Deedar Zaman of Asian Dub Foundation (his cockney-indian-patois is amazing)

Davey Havok- A.F.I. Nobody can alternate between screaming and perfect melody like he can

Hell yeah !!! Also , ^5 to the Joe Lynn Turner fans. I’d like to add Ray Alder from Fates Warning and Midnight from Crimson Glory . But from a rock n roll standpoint , I’f hafta take either Lou Graham from Foreignor or Paul Rogers .

Thudlow, I was also looking for David Bowie as I read down the list. He’s my absolute favorite, followed closely by Freddie Mercury.

And welcome, Leftover!

Rob Halford…

Some of the others I’d mention have been listed…

Derek St. Holmes…

Lemmy Kilmister…

Peter Murphy-ex Bauhaus
Morrissey-Smiths
Dicky Barrett-Might Might Bosstones(about as SMOOTH as ta can get:D )

That’s my list EXACTLY!!!

Great minds think alike.
