Not all my favorites are particularly “smooth”, I usually like voices that have a range of abilities. I can’t stand the ones who only scream, though.
Thom Yorke (Radiohead)
Layne Staley & Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains. Together they had some great harmonies. It’s a shame Layne died, I always hoped he’d get his act together again.)
Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots)
Deborah Harry (Blondie)
Oh, forgot to add: Rivers Cuomo. Even though Weezer’s last two albums were crap, their first two still rank among my favorites of the last fifteen years (especially the brilliant Pinkerton).
Oh yeah I love his voice too! I don’t agree with the green album being crap, (I dislike Maladroit quite a bit though), but Pinkerton is my favorite Weezer album. I’ll bet you can guess my favorite Weezer song, based on my name!
I agree with pretty much everyone so far, so I won’t do any repeats (except one), but these guys are pretty good, too:
Jon Anderson, Jesse James Dupree, Billy Gibbons, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, the guy from Corrosion of Conformity (is it Pepper?), Gary Louris…
Black Francis/Frank Black (The Pixies)
Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys & bunch of collaborations)
A. W. Yrjänä (CMX (A Finnish band))
Tod A. (Cop Shoot Cop, Firewater)
Maynard James Keenan (Tool)
Hell yeah !!! Also , ^5 to the Joe Lynn Turner fans. I’d like to add Ray Alder from Fates Warning and Midnight from Crimson Glory . But from a rock n roll standpoint , I’f hafta take either Lou Graham from Foreignor or Paul Rogers .
