I came in to mention Alice’s suicide scene in the _Last of the Mohicans_, but I see it’s already been brought up. So I’ll go with one from the opposite side of the spectrum: The newspaper boy [falls off his bike](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRR4to6KcOQ&feature=kp) in _While You Were Sleeping_. I bust a gut every time, I have no idea why. It’s such a tiny moment, but so unexpected. ---

I’m reminded of a scene from, I think, _Nothing Sacred_. Our hero, a reporter, is visiting a New England town, trying to get background info on our heroine. He gets the cold shoulder from everyone he meets, the classic New England brushoff of an outsider. And then, as he walks down the street, a little kid dashes out of the bushes, \*\* bites him on the butt\*\*, and disappears. It was so unexpected I busted out laughing uncontrollably. ---

The [kitchen scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rmZVut_Hi8) in Jurassic Park. The [dance scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12ka_ZWRdqA) from Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. Maybe it’s stupid, but [the random song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taGmzkPy0hQ) from My Best Friend’s wedding was always a favorite of mine. Speaking of musical numbers, not sure if they should count, but if they do, two of them that I think were absolutely amazing scenes in movies were “[America](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy6wo2wpT2k)” from West Side Story and “[Heaven’s Eyes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG0a9WFkgzU)” from The Prince of Egypt. Those two movies would just not be complete if those scenes/numbers hadn’t been included. ---

I love the cinematography, and how the scene illustrates two of Jerry’s key character traits: his ineffectuality and his doggedness: how he keeps plodding ahead regardless of all the setbacks he encounters.
