Started this thread late last night and didn’t have time to put in my own choice. I, too, loved the silver age Legion. The thirtieth century setting was way cool, and probably factored into my life-long love of the SF genre. The large group meant lots of personalities and the “one power” (with a few exceptions) thing made for some interesting story-telling potential. Of course, they did cheat a bit on that one with the flight-belts (later-flight rings).

My comic book days were in the 80s. I was an Avengers fan then even though they weren’t the sexy hot thing at the time. I also liked the Defenders even though it did have the feel of a B team.

Definitely the Stan Lee-Jack Kirby Fantastic Four, especially from about issues 30 to 100 (before 30 they were still figuring out what they were doing. Kirby stopped being serious before he dropped out shortly after issue 100). They introduced some truly awesome concepts (The Watcher! The Blue Area of the Moon! The Inhumans! The Silver Surfer and Galactus! The Negative Zone!), and Kirby’s art was literally cosmic.
The movies never captured the essence of it, probably because they based them more on later incarnations, but partly because _The Incredibles_ effectively already DID the FF. And did it infinitely better.
Gimme back my mad scientist/sorcerer Doctor Victor Von Doom, covered in the armor and cape (that Darth Vader later stole, damn him). Give me back Galactus as an oversized human with an appetite for planets. Give us the slaspstick interplay between The Thing and The Torch

The Jim Shooter Avengers are a lot of fun. Second best fanboy writer after Geoff Johns.
I also bought The Defenders then…can’t remember a definitive good arc for them in the 80s though.
I want to throw a shoutout to Dreadstar And Co. And Suicide Squad. The 80s version
