I vote for either Cohen the Barbarian…or the Luggage.

(Although the Librarian runs a close second)

“Ooook!”

Do I have to pick just one?

Susan and Granny Weatherwax for women, and Vimes and (of course) DEATH for men…if DEATH counts as a man. I guess he does, since he’s a father and grandfather.

Completely forgot about Death as he was portrayed in “Colour of Magic”…

That one paragraph when he’s tying flies to go fishing…

“The thing between Death’s triumphant digits was a fly from the dawn of time. It was the fly in the primordial soup. It had bred on mammoth turds. It wasn’t a fly that bangs on window panes, it was a fly that drills through walls.”

Fave quote…

It varies. Today it’s Quoth, the raven.

Of course, Gaspode has a very special place in my heart.

Vetinari.

The man is intelligent enough to use Leonard of Quirm like a fine violin, politically able enough to know exactly when to skip town, and resilient enough to _always_ end up back on top of the steaming heap of unmentionable substances that is Ankh-Morpork.

And all this without any of the intangible, magical, time-manipulating skills of certain characters on the Disk.

Actually that was in Mort.

The Librarian is my favorite, although it’s a close race. There are so many great characters. Vimes, Carrot, Angua, Dibbler, Granny, Nanny and Magrat, Rincewind, the Luggage, Cohen, Death, the other horsemen, the Igors. Pratchett just keeps coming up with incredibly entertaining and likeable characters.
But any book with the Librarian is a treasure.

What about the DEATH of Rats? Sure, not as many interesting quotes, but still…

I’m also a big fan of Vimes and Vetinary, but my personal favorite duo is Om and Brutha from **Small Gods**.

Overall, it’s a toss between Vimes, Rincewind, and Death.

Oh man, it’s so hard to choose. For me, it’s a toss-up between Death, Vetinari, the Librarian, and the Luggage.

The Librarian, followed closely by Vimes. Though Death and Vetinari are always good.

Random quotes:

Nature abhors dimensional abnormalities, and seals them neatly away so that they don’t upset people. Nature, in fact, abhors a lot of things, including vacuums, ships called the “Marie Celeste”, and the chuck keys for electric drills.

All dwarfs are by nature dutiful, serious, literate, obedient and thoughtful people whose only minor failing is a tendency, after one drink, to rush at enemies screaming “Arrrrrrgh!” and axing their legs off at the knee.

People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, “Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else.”

No enemies had ever taken Ankh-Morpock. Well technically they had, quite often; the city welcomed free-spending barbarian invaders, but somehow the puzzled raiders found, after a few days, that they didn’t own their horses any more, and within a couple of months they were just another minority group with its own graffiti and food shops.

Enjoy!

Couple more:

They say the heat and the flies here can drive a man insane. But you don’t have to believe that, and nor does that bright mauve elephant that just cycled past.

There were no public health laws in Ankh-Morpork. It would be like installing smoke detectors in Hell.

“What sort of person,” said Salzella patiently, “sits down and writes a maniacal laugh? And all those exclamation marks, you notice? Five? A sure sign of someone who wears his underpants on his head. Opera can do that to a man.”

- “But I don’t believe in reincarnation!” he protested.
- SQUEAK.
- And this, Mr Pounder understood with absolute rodent clarity, meant:
Reincarnation believes in you.

Enjoy again!

DEATH, by a mile.

Susan, Vimes, The Librarian, Death of Rats, the Patrician, Ridcully, the Auditors, Angua, Gaspode to complete the top10. But most of not all of his characters are great.
