Favorite TV Show Opening/Closing Title Sequences

That’s it. Y’know, it wasn’t the best show ever, but something about that opening sequence just clicked.

Dig it, man.

Also the shot of Jim in the supermarket looking over the freezer, choosing his steak.
My addition:

Stingray Anything can happen in the next half hour!

The end theme of WKRP In Cinncinnati. The lyrics were just meaningless babbling made to sound like they signified something. Plus, it rocked.

Dr Who circa 1967… the best arrangement of the music ever with Pat Troughton’s face emerging from the swirl…

and I’m another vote for The Prisoner, too

and, for any Aussies on the list, the iconic opening of “Homicide” during the classic Kurts/Mallaby/Yemm/Teale era.

mm

Venture Brothers narrowly edges out Jonny Quest.

The minimalist and surrealistic **Aeon Flux ** with the eyelashes-as-flytrap motif.

Samurai Jack. Mako’s voiceover as Aku makes up for the goofiness of the theme song.

No one mentioned The Six Million Dollar Man? Heresy.

I second Mystery! and proudly nominate** Sesame Street, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood** and **3-2-1 Contact ** in the PBS category.

Does anyone here besides me remember Vegetable Soup?

Oh. Fraggle Rock.

Yeah. That opening song sequence gave me nightmares, with all that weird hippie animation.

“All kinds of vegetables…”

Twin Peaks Love that music, and the video of the saw blade being sharpened.

Eight is Enough Not a bad theme for a teen show, plus it had shots of my crush Joannie Bradford.

It’s already been mentioned, but Green Acres immediately came to my mind.

I can remember when I was a kid running from anywhere in the house when that show came on and singing the theme song with the kid my mom used to babysit.

MST3K is also a good one.

and of course Enterprise wait wait, don’t hit me, I just mean the mirror universe episodes.

Odinoneeye. Oh. :: Drops beheading axe. :: Mirror Universe. Gotcha. You need to speak up, son.

Actually, it only got on this list because it was SSSSOOOOO much better than the original.

I’d vote for Babylon 5, second season to fifth.

I’ve been struggling to think of one with Ending Credits that I like - I guess I just don’t notice those as much. **The Venture Brothers ** is solid both coming and going, though - as is MST3K , for the same reason : a stinger.

Family Guy and **American Dad ** have pretty good openers.

There’s something infectious about the **Speed Racer ** theme.

Buffy wins points, if only for their willingness to play with the credits sequence, best exemplified by the episode “Superstar”.

I thougt it was “goldfish shoals”.

Star Trek Voyager.

You ought to find the extended version. Waylon sings about his momma not understanding why they show his hands but not his face on TV.

24, and the newer CSI opening.

Excellent recover, Steve.

The 4400 had a great opening sequence. Best part about the show, actually.

Whoa. That just gave me a Proustian moment.

Did you know that the second season starts next month?
