# Favorite Words?

I was just curious, do you have any favorite words?
One of mine is aversion, I hardly ever say that I don’t like things, usually I have an aversion to them.
Intrinsic is another of my favorites. Although not one I get to use in everyday conversation.
So, how about it, are there any words you just like?

I’ve always liked the word “megalomania.” And when it comes to a word that is just plain funny, you can’t go wrong with “kumquat.”

I like **quincunx**. It means an arrangement of objects in the shape of the spots on the “5” side of a die, so it’s not exactly casual conversation: “Hey, isn’t that a nice quincunx of trees over there?” But it sounds cool, and my Scrabble Dream is to be able to play it on the outside edge, nabbing two triple word scores.

Seriously though, I like to use “salutations” and “greetings” in place of “hello”, and I also like warning people against the dangers of “dihydrogen monoxide.” 😃

You know, there’s a really neat poem by Tony Harrison (I think) called “A Kumquat for John Keats.” It’s under copyright, though, so I can’t post it – if you have a Norton Anthology of Poetry on hand (and who _doesn’t?_ ;)) it’s in there…
As far as words go, I’m rather partial to “snickersnee.” Another one that doesn’t come up often in conversation, unless one is acting in a production of _The Mikado_… 😃

A friend of mine and I sit around sometimes talking about words, how they sound, which one’s roll off the tongue, which one’s are just hard to say and which one’s make us laugh.
Snickerdoddle, a fun word to say and a great cookie.
I couldn’t find Salam anywhere either, I found Salaam which is a Muslim greeting. I’ll wait for efrem to give me a definition though.

i have a ton of favorite words. except some are in spanish. im partucularly fond of the words “hablaba” and “trabajaba” (forms of the words “to speak” and “to work”)
In english, im gonna have to go with onomotopoeia.
I think “cougar” is cool sounding too
One of my friends made up the word “poopsnatch”. dunno what it means, just makes me laugh.

Sensual is a good one.
So is onomotopoeia. I always think tinkle when I hear that word, makes me giggle.
