“[Happy Xmas (War Is Over)](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN4Uu0OlmTg)” by _John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band with the Harlem Community Choir_ (that is the correct title and artist designation according to [Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Xmas_%28War_Is_Over%29)). I have also come to enjoy Slade’s [“Merry Xmas Everybody,”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&v=0A8KT365wlA) which is played interminably, everywhere in Britain at this season. It used to annoy me, but I have now heard it so often that I have moved beyond irritation to appreciation. ---

I’m fond of “Do You Hear What I Hear?” - unfortunately modern versions tend to cut out either the first verse or the last one. Others on my “Favorites” list include: “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” “O Little Town of Bethlehem” (Nat “King” Cole version) “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent” “Carol of the Bells” (the TSO instrumental version is very nice) “Sleigh Ride” (either of the instrumental versions - Boston Pops or Leroy Anderson) ---

Veni, Veni, Emmanuel. (In Latin, please. The English translation is also lovely, but I think it loses something in the translation.) I guess I’m a sucker for plainsong and Latin. And I’m not even Catholic. ---

I couldn’t figure out where the second female voice was coming from. The guy in the middle is actually a guy, right? 🙂 The second one: not so much. It tends to sound like an action movie soundtrack piece, or something Chip Davis would come up with (which is pretty much the same thing). ---

I do a radio show every other week on a local college public station. The show is called “The Hep Imp Show” and can be heard here live at WTJU.net.Tonight is my annual Christmas music show and I will be playing many strange Christmas covers. Give the show a listen live at 1am Eastern time tonight, or anytime during the next two weeks on the tape vault stream. This Christmas show is my absolute favorite show to do each year. ---

The Sound of Silence. Well, okay, maybe some of the newer ones such as Jingle Bell Rock. Shopping centers in Thailand have gotten better too. Used to you’d be inundated with Frosty the Snowman and All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth NON-STOP at this time of year, because they thought that’s what Western shoppers wanted. They’ve gotten a little more sophisticated in recent years. ---
